Im from Essex. We're getting married in our Parish church in Colchester and our reception is at Crabbs Barn in Kelvedon. Where abouts are you? Where is your big day?

Canarybride I can't believe you know it! No one's ever heard of it. Yes, ceremony in the little Church in the village then the main reception at Spains Hall. I cannot wait - we're having drinks and canapes in the big old house and the rose gardens, then our meal and dancing in the stables. Poster who's having their reception at Crabbs Barn, I went to a wedding there as an evening guest two years ago, it was lovely, we spent lots of time sitting outside on the patio as it was so hot, but it is a lovely venue with really pretty grounds.

I was going to be an essex bride but then chose a suffolk venue as im right inbetween both counties. We looked around both Crabbs Barn and Spains Hall. Loved them both. Finchingfield is a gorgeous village, I want to live there!

I came across it years ago before I was planning a wedding and it became my dream venue for a while. It is such a beautiful venue!! You are very lucky! Now we've decided to have a relatively cheap wedding so unfortunately it's now out of our price range!

I'm very near some of you girls! Braintree myself and at uni in Colchester!

Same here MissBertieB, we were going to get married in Essex, but weve chosen a Suffolk venue. We're in Braintree, but my parents are in Ipswich.

Which Suffolk venue have you chosen? We looked at Spains Hall too, which I love, but my friend is getting married there this August, so we looked elsewhere

Haughly Park Barn was one of the (many many) venues we looked at ? But we decided on Hengrave Hall in the end. I just fell in love with it when we visited ? and it had to be there!!

Wooo, I thought I was the only Braintree bride on here!!! We've not been here long, only moved in September but it's lovely around here ?

Ah OH has been in the town for ages and I've been here about 4 years now. Unfortunately it's delights are wearing off on me a bit now ?

I'm an old Essex bride, and I got married at Fennes, It was amazing... my tip, don't book any extras including the rooms, they send you lots of special offers before the day, think the rooms dropped to £85. The staff look after you soooo well, and bridal suite is lovely x

Thank you Clarelou for the tips but damn we have already booked 5 rooms, we were given a reduced rate to £100 but £85 would have been nice. Can I ask what you did for your centrepieces?

Well, we got married in 5months so got a last minute package so the candlelabras (sp??) were included, we decorated them with fake flowers and ivy, and then had tealights on table with the mirror base with lots of pearls and crystals on tables

I'm afraid I don't have a close up on my computer but the room was like this, we only had 65 guests so looks a bit sparse without people in there!
