Essex Wedding Venues

FutureMrsHiley, 5 June, 2013 at 19:48 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi all,

Any suggestions for wedding venues in or around Essex with:

- barn, tudor or quirky feel

- accommodation available for me and my bridesmaids to stay/get ready the morning of the wedding

- space for my brother's band to play during the afternoon (outside)

- flexible catering or offering hog roast/afternoon tea (not keen on a big sit down meal)

- suitable for 60-70 day guests (some venues seem huge!)

Looking forward to your wisdom!

    I highly reccomend Leez Priory.

We were there last week and it was an amazing venue. Staff, food and grounds were exceptional.

Our venue Vaulty Manor ticks all your boxes!

Big barn in maldon, accom for up to 60 people and get ready at venue, patio for evening band to play, we are having a big aussie bbq and hog roast, we are having 60 day guests.

Corkage free and stunning place for civil ceremony too x

I was going to suggest the Reid Rooms too. It's a lovely venue and ticks all the boxes you mentioned Smiley smile

They allow you to bring in your own caterers, so I can't imagine hog roast or similar being a problem. The grounds are lovely and there's lots of room for a band, as well as a very quirky little cottage on site that you can stay & get ready in (plus room for guest too)

    Staff are also very good!

Leez Priory might be worth taking a look at. It personally wasn't for me but seems to tick a few of your boxes!

2nd for Vaulty Manor. It's probably the only venue that covers everything you've listed. One of their suppliers, The Aussie BBQ company do a wicked BBQ, which tastes great and is totally in keeping with your fun informal feel.

I'm going to big up The Reid Rooms again here. They had The Aussie BBQ company at their open day and it sounds like it would suit you. We are havign a pianist and, if it's warm they play outside so that shouldn't be a problem for your brother's band.

My friend got married at Layer Marney tower and that was lovely. They also have a cottage where we all got ready before the wedding and had photos there. Hope that helps!
