Etsy Help

If buying off Etsy, do you need to be careful for extra charges from customs etc?

I've never really ordered anything from anywhere other than the UK so not sure how it all works.

I have seen some wedding bits I may purchase but they are from say USA, South Korea, etc!

I don't want to buy them if I'm going to come in to problems / all sorts of expenses.

Any advice on this matter welcome!

Thanks.

I bought my jewellery and some wooden laser cut tags from two different Etsy sellers in the US and only paid the P&P quoted. Ask the sellers themselves as I find they are very good at answering questions.

I wish there were more UK sellers.

I think you might have to pay duty, although you might want to check somewhere on what needs duty paying (google search?).

I've bought stuff from the US before and paid duty. I'm factoring it in for the invites I'll be buying from etsy too and also my friend who is getting married bought stuff from the US on there and had to pay duty.

I think it depends on how the packages are marked. I did buy some items from the USA (from Ebay), and when the seller marked them as 'gift', I wasn't charged customs.

Me too. I love the stuff on Etsy!

I agree with RB, I have bought quite a few things from etsy and ebay. Some I have paid duty and some I have not..

I've bought lots from Etsy and invitations from light in the box. The custom charges seem to depend on the price of the item (I might be wrong),but when I bought tags I paid a few pounds, when I bought £70 of jewellery I paid £20.

I bought BM dresses from LITB and didn't get additional charges. And just spend a few quid on various bits this weekend from Etsy - I LOVE Etsy. I'll be gutted if it costs me a lot more!!

I bought my gown and bridesmaid dresses from justthebeginnings.com in the United States. The customs fee are low enough to purchase items from another country as it is worth it.
