Evelina is moonwalking tonight!

Posted on behalf of Crantock

We left Rebecca, Russell and their two friends just over an hour ago, when they entered the playtex arena to get ready for theirhalf-marathon speedwalk through London. We're hoping to see them as they pass Embankment and again around the South Bank area.

Rebecca was excited as well as a little nervous, obviously this is a huge achievement and one that seemed little more than a dream a year ago. She really has achieved so much over the last year, and is an inspiration to me and, I know, a few others here.

So, if you haven't donated already, do it now, show your support tonight!

Was fab night - but have large blood blister on right heel. How did everyone else get on? I nearly thumped the helpers at one occasion:

mile 15: I ask for water, told water barely half a mile away. Run out at this point and getting quite thirsty

next set of volunteers, I ask for water, told just around the corner

third set of volunteers, I ask for water: "Water? Oooh, there's no water until after mile 17 I should think" I wanted to cry?

I did the full moon and finished at 10:45 this morning. Slightly longer than I'd hoped for, but I finished (and I wasn't the last person back). I now cannot walk: I have blisters, my muscles are knotted and my feet feel like they've got wood in them. But, I did it ! (Oh, and irritatingly, they'd run out of medals by the time I finished, so won't have anything to show for my pain until it gets sent to me.)

Congratulations everybody who did it. You rock !

Orlybird - well done! How frustrating about the medal. Make sure you get some protein into you, it will really help with the muscle pain. My favourite is chocolate milkshake, and I'm sure the cheese on the enormous pizza I'm about to scoff will help too?

I've booked myself in for a sports massage tomorrow as a well done me treat. Know what you mean about the not being able to walk thing!

It is a bit. I did want to take a photo of me in the park afterwards with the medal and bra. In the end I came back in the pouring rain, so wasn't able to take the photo anyway; I'll have to do a mock up later in the back garden. Maybe it's not a bad thing that it worked out like that. The volunteer I spoke to at the end thinks that somebody miscounted a box of medals, or forgot to pack them. Seeing the logistics of putting something like that together, a missing box of medals isn't that big a deal.

Thanks for the tip about the protein. I have milk. I also have lots of chocolate !

I did the full moon in 8hr 40 and am immensly proud of myself. I have the worst blisters today but don't have to go to work til Wednesday. I don't ache too much actually but can hardly put my feet down. I was in so much pain when I finished that I never got chance to take many photos or watch others come in, all I wanted was my trainers off, my glass of bubbly and a taxi to the train station. It took 8:40 to walk 26.2 miles, but it took my nearly 15 minutes to walk a few hundred yards to the edge of the park cause I'd seized up already LOL

I also had the honour of sitting with Rebecca and her group for an hour or so as we were in the same starting group. We didn't start together due to loo visits etc but we had a few texts through the night. I'm very proud of her as well, and everybody else that completed it. Go us!

Well done guys - my boyfriend's sister and mum were doing it so his stepdad and I volunteered to crew (thankfully I am NOT one of the ones that seraphina wanted to thump - as I was in the six mile zone ?).

Although I have no blisters to speak of, my pedometer tells me that I walked 14 miles and my shoulders ache from the traffic detail! Am tired though, my body doesn't know what time it is, not helped by my boyfriend emailing this morning from Dubai, which is three hours ahead, although they are apparently working to Zulu time which is one hour behind. Er I was working from 7pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday... stop confusing me more! ?

I quite liked where we were, it was quite entertaining! We were the crossing just before Ludgate Circus, you crossed over at my crossing to the other side of the road and then would have gone around the corner to St. Paul's. In fact I was the first person at that crossing, I had to stop people crossing at the first crossing because only the second one was controlled by buttons.

I was so tired when I got home that I slept in my tasty luminous t-shirt! ?

Ha! Do you have glasses and blonde-ish hair??? Before City Thameslink? If so I think I remember you - you were very very good at the cheering! By that stage I was wearing my blue jacket because I was freezing. Took me 5hrs22mins. Walked a lot of the way with a lovely man whose name I didn't even get - he was doing it by himself too and it was great just to walk passing the occasional comment. The volunteers were bloody fantastic, they totally helped you to keep going. I was this >< close to hailing a taxi on the King's Road though!

The firemen on the Embankment were great?

Nope not me, I'm brunette without glasses and I was before then, further down towards Blackfriars. I was cheering for most of it but at one stage people were being like lemmings and I was more concerned with keeping them safe and just had to keep smiling and saying "Well done, keep going! Straight on please, cross at the next crossing! Thank you!"

I wasnt a lemming lol, i stopped at all crossings for a rest lol.

did two women, one fat and one thing, both in matching bras with lights on drop out around by you.

i lost them at the 6th mile and walked the rest alone. i walked the whole thing in my bright pink feather bra.

Well I completed the full moon in 8hrs 32mins. It really was one of the most difficult things I have ever done and I burst into tears when I was given my medal.

It was a great night but I agree that some of the crew were rather irritating with the water scenario. I was told at the 8 mile mark that water was 500 yards away but it was actually 2 and a half miles! The toilet situation was also rather frustrating as the queues were so long that I lost momentum and got cold.
With that said however, I think it was well organised and I was just pleased to finish.

I didnt get any fruit either, they had run out. a couple of people were upset that they didnt get a medal at the end due to number mix ups and also they sold the she wee things but didnt have any of the urinal things out on the course.

i didnt get one but on the talk the talk website this was a complaint. i really enjoyed it but i was hard work.

Well done everybody who did the Moonwalk! I did the first Edinburgh one a few years back so know exactly how you all felt! Not sure I could do it again knowing how painful it was towards the end (very selfish of me I know!) but I think I am going to volunteer this year to do my bit!
