In my experience I'd have to say no,

Is the coronation chicken just in a bowl or in a sandwich?

2.5kg of coleslaw sounds about right

    You need 100 chicken legs

    200 cocktail sausages

sausage rolls sounds ok - maybe add another 20-50 if their the mini ones

How much salami, ham, beef and chicken is in a pack?

Again how big is a pork pie, will it serve 4?

Add 20 cheese and onion rolls if their the mini ones

At work for a party of 100 I'd serve around 6 kg- 8 kg of quiche

Add some carrots (cheap and v. popular)

Also what amounts of biscuits, bread sticks, cheeses etc are you going for

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear...

How recently will your day guests have eaten? If there's been a sizable gap between wedding breakfast and evening reception, a lot more food will be consumed than if they just follow on after each other.

Thank you! I will re do the list. The coronation chicken is on its own not in a sarnie. We are having a 50s theme so we have to have coronation chicken!!!! ?

The day guests will be eating at 2-4 (we are having fish and chips, followed by our speeches and then the cake table)and we are putting the buffet out around 7ish. I know that I wont be very hungry after having fish and chips for lunch but I dont know about my guests.

Pretty sure you're supposed to cater for 75% of your guests.

Are you doing the evening buffet yourselves? If so, I'd highly recommend Costco. They do massive platters of sarnies for like £15 each. They also do meat platters etc.

Yes we are doing the buffet ourselves to keep costs down. We will get some bits from bookers as my family has a card. Didnt even think of costco - thanks!

I would say you would need more what time are your evening guests coming as 7 seems a bit early for buffet to go out i was under the impression that the eve buffet usually goes out about 9pm it depends on how your day is running i am also doing fish and chips followed by cakes but getting married later so not eating until 4.30 ish but my buffet is going out at 9.30 in between we will have a snack table and sweetie buffet just incase people get a little peckish.

I have been to Weddings where they have been put out later and where they have been put out early. We have decided this time as there are a lot of children at our Wedding and I dont want the parents worried about giving them food. Plus we wouldnt eat after 8 so why at a Wedding is it ok to eat so late?

We are also having a sweetie buffet out, so if people are peckish they can nibble on that too.

I'd probably add some large bowls of different salads for those who aren't big meat eaters with maybe some cold salad potatoes, rice, etc so they can mix it with the cheese and coleslaw. One thing we found at our daughter's wedding was there was tons of meat as it was a hot chargrilled buffet but could have done with some more salad and potatoes which went very quickly.

Bustyb thats a good idea ref children im kind of hoping to have gotten rid of mine and the ones invited to the day by the eve most of the parents have said they have enough notice to get a babysitter i suppose the reason for having them later is 1 so those who only arrive at 7.30 for eve do prob had food for tea around 5 or 6 ish and secondly to saok up all the alcohol they will no doubt consume saying that at a couple of weddings i have been to i havent eaten the eve buffet at all, i think my caterer said she catered for 70% as some wont turn up etc i would def have more cocktail sausages they seem to go down well as do chicken drumsticks.

can i ask what you are serving your fish and chips on ??

Good Luck with the preperation x x

About half the guests are travelling 160 miles plus (his side) to be there so they wont be able to get babysitters which is why we were thinking of the little ones, but I can completely understand that if it was more of a local thing then I wouldnt be so worried about the kids food as they would most likely be with babysitters.

I will put more cocktail sausages and drumsticks on the list - thanks.

Im not sure about the fish and chips, the place we are getting them from have there own cool cardboard boxes but Im not sure if I would want to serve them in these. My OH has suggested making our own newspaper or using a local one (but I am sure if I did that someone might say something about it not being completely clean). What are you serving yours on?

Good luck with your preparation too. It seems to be getting very real now,if you get what i mean.

I was going to buy 120 plates knives forks and spoons from ikea total cost about £70 but apart from the dress suits etc im not doing overly traditional we will have fish n chips followed by desserts, tea and coffee avaliable but serving cider, white wine and fruit punch non alcoholic with the fish itself and when i say fish have 4 options so i called my supplier and he said he could get me plain boxes no print so i thought i would pre make some colour co-ordinated bows for his assistant to stick on the boxes with a glue dot for the fork to be stuck just an idea at the mo i know from searching a lot of people do plastic knives / forks etc i was thinking if i serve in boxes i can have knives and forks avaliable for those who want them i mean if were serving fish and chips it may as well be served the way it usually is, i am getting individual wet wipes online and every table will have a wooden basket with sachets of sauce etc, tbh if i wasnt so worried about giving my guests a hot meal and was not having eve buffet, to fit in with my theme i was going to have picnic baskets with cold meats etc in them followed by full afternoon tea, although everyone i have spoken to has loved the idea of fish and chips some may turn their noses up at it but everyone is entitled to their opinions x

my OH thinks im crazy im on the net all the time looking for ideas and ways to do them on a budget, in some ways im glad i dont have thousands to spend as if i did i wouldnt know where to begin on a budget i have an idea in mind and know i can make it fabulous with what i have so far fingers crossed i have been very lucky with some great finds on ebay currently struggling with fairy lights though x
