I'm just having a DJ. Would LOVE karaoke, but none of my friends/family are brave enough to do it! (Apart from me)

I was going to have a sweets table, but I just thought of a mad idea. Having fish bowls filled with blue & white millions (thos little chewy sweets) as centre pieces!! Then I could have little scoops and small bowls so that people can empty them as the day wears on. Then I'm not left with centrepieces that I don't know what to do with at the end of the night!

    Haha!

We're having a ceilidh band, casino, chocolate fountain and hog roast! it makes such a difference to the people who don't want to dance to a disco to have something for them to do, especially the older family, so we thought we'd go all out!

We are having a band, but I hate that part of the night when the meal is over but the band isn't quite ready to start yet, so we are having a group of highland dancers, just to break the monotony of it before the evening kicks off.

Don't think its entertainment either, but having a sweetie table too! x

We're having a band and a sweetie table. We're hoping music and dancing with a few sweets will keep everyone entertained!

I hadn't heard of sweetie tables before I came here either, where have they come from? LOL

I wanted a choc fountain but mum said no, she thinks its naff and we're just having sandwiches and sausage rolls for an evening snack with the teas and coffees later on. (and of course she's paying for the reception so what she says goes....)

We're having DJ and sweetie table, and do the fish & chip cones/bacon butties count? After a year of dieting, think they'll count for me! ?

Having a DJ here. I would have loved a band, but budget and venue size are a problem.

We're having a disco. Not having a sweet buffet, but am currently toying with another diea that might work ?

Would love a band but probs too expensive. Haven't looked into it more. I think people are more than happy with a disco, drinks, food and a chat! Don't need magicians and gold men on stilts etc!

Though if you're having them then good on you! We're all different!

I had my heart set on live entertainment for the evening, as i think it creates such a party atmosphere and people are more likely to dance. But live bands are so expensive! You are looking at at least 600 for a band, which ideally i would prefer to a soloist. We are having an acoustic singer after the meal and before the evening do so maybe a dj would suffice on the evening? Whatever floats your boat i suppose, i think generally people just expect a dj and a buffet and anything extra is a bonus!

Most DJ's will accept a request list/playlist - or they have done at the weddings I've been to, and when I get round to setting up our wedding website properly (which I really must do at some point!) I'll be asking for guests requests

ETA: At our family weddings we have everyone from the kiddies to grandparents up dancing

I wouldn't consider a sweetie buffet to be entertainment, or a chocolate fountain. IME chocolate fountains are far to messy to have where everyone is in their best new outfit anyway - even worse for brides in white/ivory dresses!

We're not having a disco, or a band, just an iPod with a selection of songs that we have chosen - we can't stand the thought of other people choosing music for our wedding reception because we hate 'popular music' and chart music would ruin it for us. We are also having a table magician to do the rounds and keep people amused for a few hours.

I went to a reception the other week where they had a cariacaturist - he spent all evening standing in a corridor and we spent an hour queueing - he was supposed to go round the tables but people got impatient - we must make sure our magician doesn't get caught in the same trap.

We changed our minds and have now booked a band for the evening entertainment. Not going to have a sweet table as such - we are going to have jars all over filled with chocolate egg - so i suppose whatever is left over Smiley smile
