How have you worded your evening invites?? did you decide what time it starts or did your venue tell you what time?

We have full control over our venue, so it's up to us in our case.

I was going to say something along these lines

"Simon and Claire are having a small wedding for immediate family, followed by a humongous party for our friends and family to celebrate. We would be delighted if you could attend our party to help us celebrate our wedding with us"

    What do you think?

Our wording was exactly the same except for the time (all in the one venue). The information sheets were slightly different. We decided the time though should have discussed this with the venue as we've left ourself slightly tight.

    ^^ WM772012S.

I can see it's not what you're trying to do, but that wording could be seen as rubbing their noses in the part of the event that they're missing out on. I don't see any need for you to refer to the actual wedding.

How about.. "We would be delighted if you could come and help us celebrate our wedding in a great big party along with all our friends and family."

Thanks all! No offense on my part I assure you!

Meanwhile, does anyone have examples of what the're putting? I'm conscious that I've hijacked this post by accident ?

We have a lot of family and we couldn't afford to have everyone there for the whole day and I'm pretty sure the ones coming to just the evening will probably get us a small gift anyway so I'll probably leave it on there.I've not made my invitations yet either but I don't actually think I will be having any evening guests, but if I do, I won't be putting them in.
