Event Licence - Marquee Wedding

MrsEdisToBe, 15 August, 2015 at 09:44 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi,

We had to apply for an event licence from our local council to have our wedding in a marquee (at the local cricket club) and we had to send this to about 5 different people including the police and fire officer.

I have just realised that although we have had the stamped form back from the council we haven't had any response from the other departments.

Does anyone have any experience of this? I am assuming that its just a formality and that as the council have approved it that will be all we need???

TIA

Possibly the council have approved permission and the others just had to be advised but I would double check just to be sure.

Check that the marquee hire company have the appropriate licence and insurances. Naturally the fire department can't comment until the marquee is erected, although if the hire company have the insurance, licences, and a previous track record, this should suffice.

Where is your actual ceremony taking place??

Hi. The wedding is in a church nearby so it's just the reception. The cricket club have a full fire assessment etc and it's a local well know marquee company. I will take he paperwork we have and just see if the firemen turn up to assess it any point. It's going up on the Wednesday before so gives plenty of time. Thanks x

Sorry to persist, it is likely that the cricket club has insurance etc for its existing buildings. Ad Hoc structures are most likely outside of this cover. It is best to double/triple check with both the CC and the marquee company. In truth, i am sure that all will be fine, although its best to know and not worry IYSWIM....

You will only get a response from the council, you have to file it with other departments just in case they want to object. If you have the stamped TEN from the council you are good to go.

I was actually going to the ring the council today to check this so that's perfect. Thank you all x
