Exchanging computer games question...(Wii related)

spacecadet_99, 16 December, 2008 at 16:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Right, first of all thanks for those who helped me with the Wii question. I had some online leads but went to the massive Tesco Extra store down the road on the off chance and they had one in stock, so bought it there and then.

The tricky bit of this is that my mum has already bought MrSC a Mario Kart game for DS. She bought it online so can't get it changed in time for Christmas. I've said I will go out and try to exchange it - just saying that my mum bought my husband a present but got it for the wrong console, I don't have a receipt, will they exchange it and I'll pay the difference which isn't far off the truth.

I've done similar (where the story is slightly more true!) before but can't remember where - I think maybe HMV. Has anyone done this recently and can advise? The game will be sealed in it's original wrapping etc. Can't ask my mum to send it back as a) it probably won't come back in time and b) I think she's already pretty annoyed with me for being a pain as it is!

My H exchanged a few Wii games for some x box games on Saturday at Cex in Merry Hill. My friend has also exchanged games in HMV in merry hill. There are a few places in Merry Hill so its worth going round a gfew of them to see who offers you the best deal. Thats if you can face Merry Hill at this time of the year!

Brilliant, I've got the day off on Monday so I'll brave it and go then. Did they exchange for the new price? It'll be brand new and unopened, I'm willing to accept a little less than the new price if I have to but was hoping for not too much less.

You won't get full price unfortunatly. I think it depends on the game. I'm not sure if being new and in the wrapper will make any difference. My H took in 4 games and got £42 for them. Its worth shopping around as some places are better than others. Good luck for Monday!

Games have a trade in value which is based in their age/popularity/how many the shop have in. This is not generally near the new price.
