excited & nervous to see my dress

RomanticEmeralds, 31 July, 2015 at 12:04 Posted on Planning 0 4

So I am going to see my dress tomorrow for the first time since I ordered it back in January. I have mixed feelings about this. I'm excited and nervous in equal amounts. The thing is that I didn't get that feeling that this is 'the one' for any dress I tried, I only knew which ones definitely weren't the one. I found 3 that I liked equally, 2 in one shop and 1 in another. Out of the 2 in the first shop my CBM and mum weren't keen on 1 of them so I ruled that one out. My final decision was based on the fact that I really liked the staff in one shop, they were so friendly and helpful that it made me want to give them my custom (it is a very small independent shop) plus it is just down the road so very handy if I need to pop in. Also they stocked BM dresses which the other shop didn't so it seemed easier to get everything from there. I am now just hoping that I will fall in love with it tomorrow. The sample dress was too big so it was hard for me to envisage what it would be like fitted properly. On the plus side the lady in the shop can add little bits to it to customise it. I am getting the corset ribbon in the same colour as my BM dresses and a few matchining 'sparkles' sewn on the neckline. So hopefully once that is done all of my doubts will be put to rest. Wish me luck! ?

    Ah good luck ?

I'm sure everything will be wonderful! I didn't get 'the feeling' either for my dress when I bought it, but I knew I liked it as did my mum, and it was within budget. I spoke to a few of my friends and they all said the same, one of them got herself in knots trying to have 'the bridal moment' but in the end she went with one she liked and is happy with it ?

I seem to like my dress more and more each time I try it on - I've now had two fittings, and each time it feels more like my dress and that feeling is growing.

It sounds like your dress will be personalised too, which is bound to make it feel like your special dress (love the ribbon idea!)

Let us know how it goes ?

I also get to see the dress I ordered for the first time tomorrow. I've had a couple of fleeting thoughts of "what if I don't like it now?" but I've brushed those away. I'm more excited now to see MY dress. Just think, the dresses we try on tomorrow will be the ones we will actually be getting married in! ? OMG!!! ?

Thanks for putting my mind at rest, feeling slightly less nervous now. Everyone kept saying 'you will know when you find the right one' but I didn't and I was getting sick of the process so just went for one I liked and that suits me in the end.

I think a lot of people go through this. I certainly did!

The problem with wedding dress shopping is that you have to wait so long to see it after it's been ordered in. Also, half the time you are deciding on the basis of a too big dress that has been bulldog clipped to make it fit you!

Go along with an open mind wearing your shoes and underwear. Do you make up and hair nice. I bet you'll be more than pleasantly surprised!

I never had the feeling but my mum did and the dress was nice which is why I went for it. However the more I look at pictures in me in my dress the more I love it. And when i stalk other people's wedding pics i always seem to think things like "that's a nice dress.... But i like my dress more" lol. I even prefer the pics of me in my dress than on the model (I think the model is too skinny for my dress ?).
