Exercise Advice

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone has any god exercise tips for me.

Basically I'm a shop assistant so I am on my feet at work about 8 hours a day and I walk to and from work (15 minutes each way). Recently I started trying to go running in the evening but I have always been useless at running and I just can't keep it up, I really tried! It doesn't help that I can be quite tire after work.

Does anyone use something like Wii Fit to help stay fit? I don't have space for a treadmill or bike and no space to do exercise vids.

Please help, I am joining slimming world tomorrow but really wanna get into great shape!

    Hi Csteggle,

It's not easy getting motivation - in fact I think it is the hardest part of the whole thing.

Few of my best tips are:

    1. Get clear on what you actually want - rather than just loose weight, how much weight, or is it more about toning, feeling better in yourself etc... whatever it is get clear on that and try and set small and measurable steps to that

    2. Commit to the first step. I find I coax myself into exercise by starting the process with small manageable steps. e.g. decide that this week you are going to get into your exercise clothes 4 times this week. Then once you are in them maybe you are just going to leave the house, then maybe you are just going to get yourself to the gym, or start to run etc. I keep saying this to myself not over to committing to 4 long runs, or gym sessions but actually by the time i am in my exercise clothes, leaving the house, at the gym or doing a run I find it so much easier to push myself to get the workout I really wanted to get done done.

    3. Try and exercise early - I find I am so much more likely to follow through with my exercise if I get up and get it done first thing - the other bonus of this is you feel better all through the day!

Hope this helps, good luck with it all. Whatever happens you will look amazing in your dress on the day, so don't stress too much! Smiley smile

Have you tried the Shred? Totally manageable because it's only about 25 minutes and you will start to notice your self toning up which is always a good motivator. There are 3 levels. Start at level 1 and do each level for a minimum of 10 days or until you're doing it comfortably. You can find all the videos if you just Google them and then click the videos option at the top of the page. Good luck!
