Experiences of coming off the Pill after a long time (TMI)

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with me? I have recently come off the Pill after 10 years and after finishing the last packet had my withdrawal bleed as usual. About a week later I started feeling mild cramps (like period pains but not really painful just a dull ache) which persisted for about a week and I have also had really slippery discharge (sorry so TMI) - I also feel so rude as I can't stop thinking about you know what - my husband doesn't know what the hell has happened to me!

Please tell me this is a normal part of returning to normality after taking the pill? x

It all sounds normal to me - it is hormones after all and the pill can reduce your sex drive so coming off should have the opposite effect. I came off the pill last year after 12 years. I had incredibly sore boobs heading towards my first proper AF which is something I never experienced on the pill. This wasn't as bad on the next cycle. My AF has also been quite light and short since coming off the pill.

I think everyone is different in their experiences and you sound normal to me.

Ditto WCazS, I've been insatiable (not helped by OHs stress related not being), my periods have been bloody awful, painful and very heavy, i get hormoanal, it gets bettert hough love!

Cant help you your question as I've been on it for about 14 years but just wish I was insatiable...I currently try my hardest to avoid it. Maybe I should come off.

Anyway good luck JK2B - hope it calms down soon.

Are you me? I could have written that post word for word.

Discharge varies daily, sometimes none, sometimes lots (sorry, TMI), cramps are also coming and going.

My skin has exploded in spots.

I came off it in January, after being on it for 5 years, and have not had any bleeding since (and I'm not pregnant).

So to answer your question- yes, or at least I hope so!

Thank you all - a real relief to know I'm not the only one with a few things going on!!

Fenella Fudge - Certainly has made me feel completely different sex drive wise so I'd say worth considering

Starstruck - hope you are right it would be lovely to fall pregnant straight away even though I am totally not expecting it
