Face Primer

overtherainbow, 23 May, 2015 at 17:40 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I want to try one as I've heard they're good for keeping your make up looking good all day but I'm not sure which are good makes. Smashbox seems to have lots of excellent reviews but is it OK for sensitive skin does anyone know? Any recommendations welcome Smiley smile

I have very sensitive, dry skin and smashbox didn't make me react or anything, but the photo finish one, which is the one that has so many good reviews, just didn't work very well for me - it made me look dry and patchy. Still worth a try, though. I use the smashbox green one now as I have some redness - it has a different sort of texture.

Likewise i have sensitive skin and use the clear smashbox primer, i think its pretty great - its £26 i think, but it does last quite a while.
The MAC one is pretty good, also.

My mum, however, swears by the 'gosh' one.

Great thanks - I'll have a look at those and see if I can beg a sample.

The smashbox one works for me & I got the lighter version.

As a cheaper alternative I find the witch one pretty good too. X

Mally do a really good one, I use a MAC one just now, but my next purchase is Illamasqua Hydra Veil.

I tried it on holiday and it was fantastic! Definitely investing in it as soon as I can!

I use MAC Fix+ on top of my make up to hold it all in place.

I'm using a MAC one at the moment - seems to be lasting forever. Not overly keen on it though, have heard good things about smashbox and illamasqua. Will try one of those next I think.

Thanks for those… do you still put your moisturiser on if you use primer then or will that make your skin too shiny if you use both?

I would put your moisturiser on first thing then let it soak in. If you find yourself looking shiny, a little powder will help.

I had a primer that had sparkly through it and I looked like something out of twilight. Watch out for that haha!

I usually use moisturiser first and then give it 10mins or so before primer. I don't use primer on a day to day basis, so I don't need to worry about it in my morning routine, only when I'm going out somewhere more important than work!

I have used Smashbox for a couple of years and was the best I found until one of the Chanel reps I know recommended YSL's new one and I have to say it is beautiful. I hope I can afford to keep using it and wouldn't go back now!

Monu Primer is amazing! It is a tad expensive but definitely worth it especially if you have redness of the skin
