Facebook & Ebay Qs

jaz, 14 August, 2009 at 09:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Facebook - Is there any way to restrict some "friends" and what they can view on your wall etc without blocking them so you are still their friend?

Ebay - I sold an item and the buyer wants to return it. I think there is fault on both parts as to why it is unsuitable but maybe I'm biased... do I refund the postage I charged them? Am I to pay for their postage to return it? Can I get a refund of my listing fee?

On the Facebook one if you go into account settings you can go through and restrict what specific people see - you can also have a look at how they'll see your profile (it appears that my sister has stopped me seeing her status updates ...)

Excellent thanks TWR! Sorry about your sister though, or maybe it's a good thing ?

Its probably safest for both of us ... did mean I discovered how to have 'work' type people blocked from seeing things which is a GOOD thing

The e-bay question has come up before from a buyer's pov on an unwanted item and the response was that you get a product refund but not postage and pay the postage to return the item.

If however you think you were in part at fault and liable for the return then I would say refund the original postage and let them pay for the return - but make sure they send it via the same method you sent it to them i.e. insured if you did so.

Jaz im jumping in on your thread ..... does anyone know on FB if you can stop people copying your photos onto their own FB? I have my photo settings at 'only friends' but people are posting them to their profile and tagging themselves, so that means their friends etc in turn can view them - right? FB confuses me a lot!

Best thing to do is create a restricted list, I have one for work and one for others just so certain comments arent seen lol.

pinkjay: if people are taking your pics report them to fb with a copyright notice on them... you can also add the offending people to a blocked list so they cant find you whatever!

Thanks guys, sorting the ebay issue now I think. If I offer a second chance offer am I whacked for 2 lots of ebay fees does anyone know?

As for your FB query I'm not sure pj. I think on bebo it's easy enough but not so clear on FB. Unless you watermark the ones you add yourself? Or if it's just to hinder weirdo stalker types from printing them off and putting them in some sort of shrine I'm not sure that will help ?
