Fake leaded windows

Flowery the Grouch, 14 August, 2009 at 10:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

Why??! Why do people do it? Why would you take a decent sized pane of glass and pretend it's been made up of smaller ones? Why would you take a modern house and try and pretend it has olde worlde windows?

WHY?

They are hideous, revolting and vile.

Yep, and there are lots near us, which is an area of quite small terraces and semis, so surely they make the already small rooms really dark?

    They truly are hideous!

We live on a row of Victorian terrace houses. The "posher" houses on the other side of the road have bay windows, but one ludicrous owner has decided to get rid of the bay windows, (so they are normal flat windows now,) and replace the lovely wooden sash windows with those hideous plastic, fake leaded windows and they have pebble-dashed the front of the house!!.....makes me want to go inside and see what the rest of the house is like.

Surely it should be a crime!

All of our road has them - the builders put them in when they built the houses 7+ years ago. They are to go with the "Arts and Crafts" inspiration for the house design... [rolls eyes]

The area that I live in all have plastic inserts stuck to the window to make it into UPVC fake leaded. Its the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen.

We have them. On our 1960's semi. Truly hideous but we can't afford to replace them just yet.
