False eyelashes anyone??

LISA221010, 10 October, 2010 at 14:52 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi ladies

Had my make up trial yesterday and was asked whether I would like some false eyelashes on the big day.

Having never really tried these before, wondered whether anyone else has had them, are they comfortable and how do you get them back out again??

During the trial yesterday, she applied some individual long length lashes to the outer edge of my eyelids - I thought I looked a bit weird like a cat so had them taken back out and she suggested a full set but shorter length on the day.

What does everyone think?

You need to go with what you are comfortable with... I wear falsies on a big night out and love how they look so have decided to have semi permanent ones put in for the wedding, this also means no mascara and risk of running!!!!

I would love them, but I can't do them myself and to be honest I don't think I'd be able to cope with them, hate anything to do with eyes - I tried contact lenses once, took me about 30 minutes to get them in and double that to get them out again!

Personally I love them and couldn't be without them on my wedding day. I find they really make a difference in photos.

But if you are not used to wearing them they take a little bit of getting used to so I would recommend wearing them on a night out or something before the wedding to see whether you find them comfortable or not and seeing if you like the effect in photos.

Ive bought some from ebay to play with because im useless at putting them on at the minute. I was thinking about having extentions done properly but i wear contacts and i manage to pull my own eye lashed out all the time so they wouldnt last long. The other alternative is to get them dyed if i cant do false ones myself

What I would say is go for a trial first. I went to the beauticians on the day of my sister wedding to get them done last September. It was the ones similar to the perm one but instead of individual lashes, there was about 3 or 4 lashes. I think the lady who put them on was not experienced as my lashes were glued stuck and she had to get someone to come and cut them so I could open my eyes....I was extremely nervous by this point!!!

She put ones on that were way too long, I looked like I was going to a 70's themed disco rather than a wedding (I had told her it was for a wedding) so I ask her to cut them. When she did this, they were all different lengths. In the end I had to ask her to take them off. I was shocked that they charged me for this but it had taken an hour longer than it was supposed to so I didn't have time to argue!

When done right, they look amazing and if I was going somewhere nice, I would get them done again but definitely do a trial, make sure the beautician is experienced in them and go for ones that are not too much longer than your natural lashes.

Defo worth getting someone to put them on for you. Weddings can be a long day - and sometimes there may even be some tears of happiness - you wanna make sure that they stay in place! I had the ones that fit at the edge of your eye lash - and loved them - really comfortable - but as someone else mentioned above - it is what you feel comfortable with! :-)
