In our experience, most brides opt for a little tan enhancement.

Although it tends to be a couple of sunbeds as opposed to fake tan for the ones who have mentioned it to us. Even those who are apparently deathly opposed to sunbeds usually.

Personally, I love and prefer the ghostly pale look (the goth in me is coming out) so I will be tan free on my big day! The paler the better Smiley smile

I won't be tanning, no matter how much my sister tries to get me to! I picked a dark ivory dress so i wouldn't look too washed out Smiley smile

I never wear fake tan or go on sunbeds and won't be for the wedding. I'm naturally pale and so will be on my wedding day too - I wouldn't feel like myself otherwise.

We're having a hen weekend in the sun probably about a month before the wedding so will be tanned from that, although I will probably top up with the sunbed in the week or 2 leading up to it too!

to OP, if you normally tan then I'd tan, you wouldn't feel right without it I wouldnt have thought

I'm naturally really pale but I would like some healthy glow about me on my wedding day so I will be fake tanning as I do not tan what so ever. However I wont be going overboard a nice little coat.

    Hi ladies,

I too am naturally pale, I think I may just go for a little lick of fair/medium tan rather than my usual 3 weeks in Barbados colour?

I must admit though I'm still 50/50 on the idea... Don't want any funny colour around knuckles or wrists ...imagine that disaster on the photos! ?

Oh it's so hard, decision decisions!

I'd be worried about the fake tan coming off... I've got an olive complexion and tan easily but, oddly enough, not on a sunbed.

Hi i usually slap on the false tan when im going out but i also just want a healthy glow so im going to opt for some sunbeds so im not ghostly but not tanned as im having a winter wedding also my dress goes with my pale complexion so might look a little odd with tan on. i will give you's a little bit of advice though i'm a beauty therapist & do tons of tans loads of them are brides we always advice the client that we cant guarantee the tan wont rub off onto to dress only really where its going to rub like the underarms (this is on the inside of the dress) but we always like to warn then just incase x

I'll have been to Cyprus for a week for MIL's wedding, about 6 weeks before ours, so I doubt I'll be topping up at all. I think I'd look a bit odd with a full on tan in November, especially as I don't tan much anyway.

It's all too easy to look orange with fake tan. Trying to get the brides skin tone to look somewhat natural compared to the grooms can be a nightmare for a photographer.

Imo, I would recommend a natural subtle tan a few days before the wedding, the type that's health benefits outweigh the risks...

I actually thought about the tan rubbing off on the dress... Nightmare!

im so jealous of all you ladies who are going away, I can't seem to get two minutes at the moment Smiley smile

i think I will do a sunned course just to build up a little 'glow'.

Thank you Rhys, my other half said exactly the same thing, it's good to have it confirmed by an actual photographer.

ok... It's off to get a "natural" (ish) tan!

    Xx

Exactly what Rhys said - what you don't want is for you to look really tanned and your other half pale..... I'd also suggest a very subtle fake tan if you must have something.

Has anyone used the gradual tan products that you can get? Do they work? Do you have the same problem with it rubbing off?

I was thinking of using this as I don't want to look really pale and washed out (I'm a red head so am very pale naturally) but have never worn fake tan before so think this might be a good middle.

I would have thought the gradual fake tans would be risky, personally I would be too scared I'd add to much not thinking it's working properly.

You could end up like Ross on friends.

    Pml!! 'Ross on Friends'

    That is hillarious!!?

I was actually considering the St Tropez daily moisturiser, its a gradual tan.

I have decided not to go on the sunbeds, I may try this.. im a bit stuck!

There must be something I can do !?

Anyone notice if this site is buggy with an ipad? Just written a long reply only to vanish when I posted it. Smiley sad

    @Sara

Those kind of products gave my gf blemishes, maybe your skin will be different though?

As this is for your wedding, I would consider getting in touch with a pro. I assume you just want something to take the edge off rather than full blown tangerine?

Maybe just explain to them that you just want a light dose, and maybe do a trial run long before your wedding.

One thing that is worth considering, is trying out any cosmetic products before your wedding, I know it's rare but my aunty had a nightmare with lipstick she was allergic to.

Hi firstly, my ipad did exactly the same yesterday Smiley sad

I have a make up pro doing my hair & face on the day, ive contacted her and she too said tan can make her job quite hard, due to colour matching everything!

I will go natural and maybe a lick of bronzer!

    I am hoping I look ok !

    ?

I think that's the best option tbh, also good makeup pro's can work wonders and do really make you look your best.
