Family resemblance

LoveSka, 24 September, 2013 at 23:28 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 23

Do you look like anyone in your family. People are always saying that I look like my mom.

My sister put this picture on FB today, it's my dad and my nephew

Apologies to any of you that have already seen it.

Wow that's quite a resemblance! I get told quite often I look like my maternal grandmother. Unfortunately she passed away aged 26 (when my mum was only 2 and her sister only 3.5) so sadly we never knew her. I can see it a bit in photos.

People say I look like my mam but I can't think that's unusual!

This is her holding me on my Christening day. She's 29.

And me aged 29. I don't think we're exceptionally alike visually, though - I reckon it's our personalities that are most similar.

Kharv you do look like your mum!

Everyone says I look like my mum. In fact they say we look like sisters. She loves it, obviously!

All my family say my niece looks just like me. When she was younger and I took her out, everyone used to say how she looked just like mummy! They were shocked when I said I wasn't her mum but her auntie! She often tells me we're twins but just different ages. In fact we're so alike facially and personality wise...she even does things I used to do without knowing I did them! She often stands on one leg, with the other making a triangle (foot on other thigh). No idea where she got it from, but until the middle of uni, I used to do this too, although she would never have seen me do it!

It seems to run in the aunt line in my mum's family, although I am like my mum, I am so like (and apparently always have been) like her sister who passed away in 1997 (as you can imagine for my mum that's been hard! Esp. On things like my wedding day!). Mum is the spit of her aunt too.

I don't look like anyone! Slightly more like my mum but still not very alike. My sister, brother and Dad all have very dark hair, pale skin & blue eyes and I've got dark eyes, more olive-y skin and much lighter hair. In family photos I think I like my sister's friend she's dragged along to keep her company!

I look more like my dad than my mum. Coming from such a mixed family means no-one really looks 'the spit' of anyone in another generation.

My mum has three sisters and all look similar. When I was very little I crawled up to one and said "Mummy!", when she looked down it took me a second to realise it was my auntie not my mummy and I cried! When my mum takes my cousins out she jokes that people must be judging her as it looks like she's got kids from several different dads (Chinese, Indian and white).

There are some funny 'fleeting' likenesses caught on camera. There's a photo of my auntie in my grandma's house that I genuinely thought was me when I first saw it.

I think I look most like my Dad, especially before I put weight on and people who know us agree.

My mum and Nan looked very alike, but someone who knew both of them said she could see them in me which I cannot see, even if I see pictures of Nan & mum when they were younger.

I don't know - people have said I look like my sister, but with the difference in size I just can't see it (she's a size 6 and I'm a 14/6!!). I think I look like my mum, though, but here's the three of us:

This is something I've been thinking a lot about recently. I am the spitting image of my mum, to the point where it's difficult to tell who's who in photos of us both as children (although the black and white is a good giveaway!).

However, I also look very similar to my half sister on my dads side, yet nothing like my dad... It messes with my head!
