Fantasy football anyone ?

Pint&APie, 23 July, 2009 at 09:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Just wondering if poeple were still interested in doing this ?

2008/9 was our biggest league yet with around 20 teams, although there were a handful of entrants from dadsnet.

I can't promise any prizes this year, although bragging rights remain unchanged. If there is enough interest again, I'll set it up on the free Metro site.

Also, should we extend an invitation to the chaps again ?

And for those in the know, help me decide . . . Walcott and Malouda or Barry and Rosicky - which pair are going to have the better season ?

Will Andre Arshavin be able to replicate his blistering form from the end of last season ?

Will Michael Owen prove all his doubters wrong and stay fit for a great season at Man U ?

I used to be a big follower of football but for one reason or another I've been slacking for the past few seasons. I'm determined to get back into it this season so would be interested in taking part to help boost my knowledge and for a bit of fun too I guess. How complicated is it though? Would a returner like me be able to cope?

Absolute doddle, plus there are plenty of old hands here that would be able to advise.

Basically, you register, pick the players you want in your team (there is a finite budget) and off you go. Throughout the year you have an allowance of transfers meaning you can swap in new players if someone gets injured or their form drops.

Points are scored for every premiership goal your players are involved in, points lost for every goal your defence concedes.

I think I'm too 'emotional' for this. No Chelsea players, no one who's ever said anything mean about Rangers, no one who has any negative connections to Rangers and so on and so forth.

Probably best if you don't then chicken. You could always have a novelty team - G&T had one a few years back comprised solely of Rep Ireland players - she had enough left over to buy Thierry Henry, who is still considered an honorary paddy in the Pie household. ?

I see Dex has finally gone, although on the plus side we've got Adel Taarabt back for the year on loan. Still waiting on that striker though.
