Aj, it depends on how smart you want to look. If you want to look like you've really scrubbed up and made an effort (it's your wedding day, of course you should!) stick to white or ivory. Anything darker will start to look dated or dirty in photos.
I have white shirts covered no problem, but can't find an ivory one (and tbh I'm not sure what shade of ivory her dress is either).
Ok shopaholics, your challenge - locate a suitable shirt in 3XL or 19" size in ivory if you can find it because I can't. Not ridiculously expensive, don't "do" brand names for the sake of it (George at Asda is usually the most expensive I go for...).
See you later then ladies. About to lose internet connection at work as they're doing some maintenance on the server.
I mentioned a £1750 dress but decided that it was stupid to spend that much when the cost of the whole wedding doesn't even match that. The woman in the dress shop put me in something well over my budget, I didn't realise and I thought it was the one. Pardon me for falling in love with something and ignoring my head for that short moment in time. ?
Are you just wearing a normal tie, aj (colour etc doesn't matter), rather than a rouche or cravat type thing? That will affect the type of collar you need.
Ivory Double Cuff Shirt in a 19" £30.00 inc vat and P&P OK? If so, I will have a look in the shop tomorrow (I am at home at the minute), I should have one.
If I haven't, you can get one made to measure, my ones are quite expensive (but nice). Start from £100.00.
Do you have a local suit hire store AJ? Might be worth asking them if they have anything available? You would likely pay between £10-£20 I would imagine, but it would be fitted correctly.
I have had a quick search now, and as you said, it is not an easy request or at least not as easy as you may first think.
Do you have any cufflinks, aj? I know a lot of men tend to have at least one pair (possibly from a significant birthday) even if they don't regularly wear them. Double cuff shirts are so smart. A little flash of cufflink every now and again is a very good thing!
I know it's your money and all that but I think you should do it! Invest in a decent shirt and it really will make a difference to your outfit. I know it's not necessary on the whole '2 people and 2 witnesses' scale but you feeling good on the day, as an aside from just the excitement of your marriage, is a really nice thing to take charge of.
Sounds interesting. Is it a normal cuff or holes for cufflinks? Non cufflinks preferred, I have one set and have no idea where they are.
I work in Central London and live in South London so could even come pick it up some time if it's what I want. Do you have a picture of the style?
As nice as a 'made shirt' would be, the more expensive it is the more I'm likely to end up staining it with ketchup or something once our wb comes out, and apart from that I'm the antithesis of the L'Oreal advert... I'm not worth it.
Thanks - we need dark green with the cufflinks as that's our other colour, we were looking at https://www.cufflinkman.co.uk/seduction-paradise-cufflinks-p-1336.html and are happy to get those if you don't have anything suitable in stock.
Which of your places do you work out of, as we'd probably come and pick it up?
I will be here on Monday week to welcome you personally. ?
AJ. I have 2 shirts on their way into me, I am trying to get hold of a third. So you can have a choice. When they are here I will message you and you can come to the shop if you like.
It is 50 Longbridge Road, Barking. IG118RT.
Not sure if I have anything in a green cufflink, so it may be worth supplying those ones. Just as a quick recommendation, it may be worth bringing along the suit, waistcoat, tie etc. you are going to wear on the day and we can try it all on together with the shirt. We can make sure it all looks good together. ?
Sounds like a plan although the next few weekends are fairly tied up with wedding related stuff I'll be in touch. Unless it's a friday when my b2b is off and I can get some time.
Mind you, I can't see her outfit so maybe she shouldn't see mine all together...
Blimey! Does that include a honeymoon? We managed to spend only about £5,000 on our wedding (not including honeymoon as that's a gift from MOB) and we have 5 morning suits for the guys.. 2 adult BMs, 2 FGs.. we even have those fancy and pointless canapé things and we have lots of alcohol flowing. How did you manage to spend so much?
That said, we have few guests and that could be the killer for you.. if you're paying per head and you have 3 times as many guests as me (44) then you'll end up spending a fortune feeding everyone. I don't know how many guests you have but it's probably made a huge difference. We'd have had loads of guests if we knew loads of people ?
