FAO any Cooling Castle brides past or present

LallyHay, 28 May, 2011 at 19:50 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi,

I have read that guests menu choices need to be written onto the back of every guests place card. I just wondered how you did/intend to do this? Do you have any ideas that will save me writing out each person's choices in full - I have 84 day guests and can imagine a tired hand by the end of it.

Thanks

    I'm not cooling castle but when we have a work ball with options we usually use the first letter of the choice.

    eg: S. L, C would be Salmon to start, Lamb main and chocolate dessert.

    If you have 2 things that start with the same, at our last ball the printed menu on the table was labelled with (a) (b) and (c) for each item for each course and the corresponding letters were on our place cards:

    Eg;

    Starters:

    (a) Fish

    (b) Soup

    (c) Mushroom

    We've done a menu for each guest by putting it into a spreadsheet and doing a mail merge - very easy, especially as when we got our replies we uploaded them onto our wedding website and then you could just export it to excel.

    Eeeek not long now!

    To OP - we have 'luggage style' place names and have just written one word descriptions of each course on the back e.g. duck,lamb,chocolate or soup,veggie,lemon etc. Cooling provide a full printed menu on each table for the guests to refer to. As long as the waitresses can identify what the guest is having by what you write on their place name then that's fine.

    Thank you everyone! I shall just use the shortened versions then if there will be a full menu to remind guests what they are having on the table.
