FAO Panjita please! Another question for ladies who had bleeding...

31 January, 2012 at 16:49 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 23

Hiya, I was wondering if you could tell me about your early scan, what it was like and how far along you were. I remember you lovely pic with your tiny bean clearly visible! I've had bad cramping and some bleeding and I'm going for one on Friday when I will be 6+4. Thanks x

I was 6 weeks when I had the spotting/cramping and 6+4 when I had the scan. They thought it may have to be an internal one because it was so early but managed to do a normal one and this was the result:

It doesn't look much on the piccie but you could see a little heart flickering away even at that point. On the internal scans you can apparently see a lot more detail.

CRASH!!! I had the bleeding/cramping you described.

I had a scan at 6+3, I had an external and internal. I had to drink plenty for the external, but thanks to being a sturdy gal, they couldn't see baby properly.

I then had to empty my bladder for an internal. They got a good picture of bean, and saw the HB. Excuse the big arrow, i put it there for my dads benefit. Hope everything is OK OB, sending lots of sticky baby vibes your way.

The internal is fine. You ever had a smear? If so, it's pretty much like that. If not, they just insert the scanner (with lube), it doesn't hurt.

It gets a tiny bit uncomfortable when they move from side to side, but it doesn't hurt.

Your H can be in with you too.

Sounds similar, so it's pretty much like that, but not opened up.

A tiny bit. The sonographer just said the movement of the scanner had dislodged more old blood.

Another 6+3 scan pic for you.

Mine was internal so I needed an empty bladder. It really wasn't uncomfortable at all (I had to have another last Monday for prematurity / pre eclampsia) and I didn't really bleed any more after it either.

Fingers firmly crossed for you x

I'm a bit overweight but tummy is (was!) quite small in comparison to the rest of my body so that might be why they managed to do it externally.

Hope everything yes okay, it's so worrying i know but as people kept pointing out to me, worrying just makes matters worse so be as calm as you can (wish I could listen to my own advice!).

I had a few days of pink spotting at about 4 weeks which I thought was implantation, then at 6 weeks I had an afternoon of pink/red spotting and bad cramping. When is your scan?

I had bleeding 3 times during my last pregnancy, they never really said why but everything was fine. Maybe Tmi but is it red or brown? if its brown it would be old blood and red is new blood. i had a day of red then went brown but then would go red again, might not be much help but just so you know its quite common!

Yeah when you think some people have full on periods right the way through their pregnancy and don't even know they are pregnant.

I had bleeding on and off for 2 weeks. Some brown, some pink, some red. It had stopped in the couple of days before the scan, and then the scan "dislodged" some more.

I had similar bleeding with my first pregnancy and had a scan at 6 weeks. It was very clumpy brown blood with streaks of bright red, quite scary. The internal scan didn't make me bleed any heavier but they were very insistent that I stayed on bed rest until it stopped (took about a week). Everything was fine in the end but it was a terrifying time.

Hope all goes well at your scan tomorrow xx
