FAO Sparkly Bride, Peaseblossom and anyone else who has 'crystalised' shoes before!

xMissyLoux, 17 January, 2012 at 20:15 Posted on Planning 0 10

Following on from the other shoe threads (sorry to start another one!) and a message from a HIB about the different types of crystals, I was just wondering what crystals you use? And are they really 'sparkly'?

I'm using ss 5 (1.8mm) and ss 3 (1.4 mm) Swarovski crystals. They are the sparkliest you can find but also quite expensive. They cost around £30 for 1440 and depending are you planning to do your whole shoes or just heels you would need quite a lot.

The reason why I'm using Swarovski crystals is that I want them to stay sparkly for years. Other ones lose their sparkle and can also go a bit yellow.

    Hope that helps.

Hi there. I saw the reply from the lady who crystalises them. I agree swarovski crystals are the best you can get but very expensive!! I have used flat back rhinestones and they are super sparkly. Mine are clear like glass. If you look through my threads you can see them. For roughly the tenner it cost for crystals it was worth it! I have seen some people who charge a fortune to do them who also use the same crystals . ?

    Hi,

I am using rhinestones rather than swaroski (sp?) but they are green so I am guessing there won't be as much of a risk of them discolouring. I am using 4 sizes, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm! They are pretty sparkly. Rhinestones are much cheaper (I have spent about £20 on them from eBay and think I will have heaps left).
