Fascinator suggestions please + HIBS

diamondsragirlsbestfriend!, 5 March, 2009 at 08:28 Posted on Planning 0 6

I am a bit stuck on what fascinator to have. I am having a birdcage veil (similar style to the one in the picture) and was thinking of going for an orchid as the fascinator. I wasn't however too keen on the comb samples that I was sent by the person making the veil and just wondered what you ladies might recommend. Do you think an orchid fascinator would go with the dress? If so plain ivory colour or one with a bit of pink in the middle and on petals (there is a photo of this in the album below, we are having a pink and green colour scheme). Or can someone recommend something else?

You can't see it so well in the photo but the band round the dress is diamante with a bit of crystal and tiny amount of pearl (not very much pearl at all). The dress also has quite a big train with the same band round the hem.

Hope you can see the pics. This was just the sample dress which was a few sizes too big and clipped together at the back so excuse the poor fit.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks!!

    Hello!

Love the low slung waist band on your dress. I like the simplicity of the phalaenopsis orchid. Although now I do head-wear, I did train as a florist, using both real & silk flowers, so I may be able to help you. I do not have any images of flower combs on my website, but if you drop me an email I may be able to help you. Is your veil already ordered, or do you need that making too? Have done veiling too. There are a few images of fascinators I've made in this album, but the images are nto good quality!! https://www.photobox.co.uk/album/28950430

How about something like the one in this idea?

All of these flowers are handmade and the fabric can be dyed to suit your requirements. The person who makes these for me is working on orchids at the moment so I can have a word and see how she's getting on.

Drop me a line at ****@*********.**.** if you want to have a chat.

    Hi

I do a birdcage veil attached to a lovely diamante piece on my vintage inspired page. On the original vintage collection we have an ivory silk flower on a vintage lace headband? Also we have lots of other headbands that could be a possibility.

    Dress is lovely....

I was looking at a Birdcage veil for a while, have you considered real flowers or is this not an option? I think Orchids would look lovely with the Dress.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies - will have a proper look over the weekend and may be in touch.

Chids and Bec - thank you for the compliment. I have considered real flowers but not too sure how they will last. Also we only get back to UK 3 weeks before wedding and want to have something sorted before then cos if it doesn't work out then its a bit late to find something else if that makes sense.

    Hi

Your dress is stunning and something I would go for myself. I think an ivory orchid would go, but my gut instinct is to go for a crystal and feather fascinator to accent your dress and birdcage veil.

We make one off fascinators and would be happy to help if you wanted to email us.

I have one design on the site at the moment ( but I think it has too much feathers to go with your dress) https://www.taximystuff.co.uk/oneofftiara.htm - but I have other photo's not uploaded yet, that if you email me I can send over to you.

They can be put on bands or combs ... whatever you want.

Hope this helps and hasn't confused you.
