Fashionistas - Style me up

Panjita, 15 August, 2014 at 09:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

I'm gonna be 35 in a few weeks and still want to dress like I am 21. Help me!

I'm going out next week for drinks and a meal with some friends and I want to look fresh and modern but not mutton. I'm not very good at carrying off "classic". I quite like the sport luxe look but i'm not sure how to wear that style at my age.

Help please.

I would go smart, ankle grazer trousers, silky camisole and floral bomber jacket with heels for sport luxe, without looking like a teenager.

    Something like this jacket

or maybe a co-ord like this with black heels and bag

or perhaps a skirt and belly top like this

    LOVE that bomber.

I can't stop buying those big print floral pants - you can wear them with gladiator sandals or ballet pumps and a vest top during the day - then swap your shoes for big heels and add a chunky statement necklace and all of a sudden you're night time Barbie!

LOVE the co-ord but they don't have my size Smiley sad

That has given me some ideas though. I wonder if I could get away with the skirt and a varsity tee with heels?

Like a very toned down version of this (which I know is years old, but still looks good IMO)

Silly wrong I have a pair of them and I LOVE them! they were something like £9 from primark but they are instantly cool! Vest top and sandals casual, camisole and heels fancy!

I'm so pear shaped that i worry the heavy printed pants will make me look massive.

So am I Panj, its all about what you wear on top. something more floaty like a camisole or a structured T shirt is best.

    Rod, you're hot!

ETA a disclaimer: I was being complimentary, not leery. I hate this constant worry I have that straight girls are going to think I'm coming on to them!

    Rod is fit.

I don't have a clue what Sports Luxe is though so can't help in that respect!

Sport Luxe is kinda sporty and comfortable but really styled up (e.g. with heels or fancy jewellery) and can include dressy stuff made in fabric usually saved for the gym. If you look on ASOS or similar, there are a lot of things entitled "Scuba", which is basically just made with wetsuit fabric. I would put that under Sport Luxe.

    Here are some examples:

Love it! Wish I could wear something like this! I have to stick to so many 'rules' when it comes to dresses!

Not what I really wanted, but I have gone for a grid print jumpsuit now. Hope it looks nice!
