Fat Duck sicknesses rise to 400

It seems very bizzare. Earlier in the week they were saying it was just a coincidence, and it was a virus going round. They seem to have changed their minds on that one.

And surely it couldn't be at a worse time, with his new series just started?

Poor Heston. I can't help wondering how many of this latest number are just band-wagoneering though.

Could just be that people aren't used to eating that sort of food combinations maybe?

    Seems very strange!

It's not that there's 400 people ill, just that there's a possible 400 cases that are being investigated.

    Bad headlines all round.

He was interviewed earlier in the week and said that some of the people who had originally contacted him had reported that their children were ill with the same thing, despite not having eaten at the FD. If it was food poisoning related would that be possible - I thought you couldn't pass it on?

It sounds like they've tested everything and anything they possibly can - even down to the table linens and cutlery. I wonder if Gordon's been sabotaging things.

Seems weird, i would have thought people eating there would be 'fans' and wouldn't want to bring him down like this. Maybe it's just coincidence after all?

I loved his Victorian Feast program, brilliant!

This is what i believe is going on. Stomach bugs go around all the time, and who's to say that some of these 400 are just a coincidence?

A friend of mine had been bleating on via Facebook about going to the Fat Duck a few weeks ago and got ill as a result. Heston called her personally, offered her another free meal and their money back.

I think some types of food poisoning can be passed on can't they? For example, salmonella can be passed on from an infected food source that's inadequately cooked or from an infected person on to others if hygiene practices are sub-standard. So a person infected in a restaurant could pass it on to their family, e.g. through a shared towel.
