Faulty material on bra.. WWYD?

Buttons, 30 September, 2009 at 21:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

I recently bought myself a bra from Debenhams. I washed it in my machine on handwash as I am rubbish at washing them myself and when I took it out of the machine the material has ripped at the bottom of the cup and along the wire. I am peeved off about it as I had only worn it twice. I have contacted the manufacturer who have advised I take it back to Debenhams (I still have the reciept and it was very recently I bought it). However, will they just tell me tough crap as I washed it in my machine when it states on the label to handwash? I don't want to waste my time going to Debenhams if that is the case, but also I will be £30 out of pocket if I do nothing!

For £30 I'd definitely *try* to take it back. I bet regardless of how you washed it, Debenhams will exchange it as part of their "good customer service policy". And if they refuse, then you haven't really lost anything.

Manufacturers say handwash to protect themselves. If anyone remembers Chelsea Girl all their labels said handwash for this very reason.

I have had some of my bras for years and they go through the normal wash without a problem. I would definitely take it back and don't give more information that is required. Tell them you handwashed it they don't need to know it was the handwash in the machine.

You are stressing over nothing, Debenhams will just change it for you and claim a refund back from the manufacturer. The quicker you deal with it the better it will be.

I wouldn't mention how you washed it, but if they asked I'd say handwashed - well, you sort of did and it will just make it easier.

I wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem. I had a bra that had a little bit of a rough bit on the hooks at the back which really irritated me when I wore it - I got a full refund for it.
