We are having alcohol miniatures for the adults, activity bags for the kiddies and chocolates for the inbetweeners!

We have individual boxes for the miniatures which will double as place names too.

Favours. Without the u makes it an Americanised spelling.

Personally, they are a waste of money - why do you feel you should have them? I've been to quite a few weddings and I've only seen favours at 2 weddings. They were all left behind as well - save your money & put it towards something else, like money behind the bar, extra money for a good car, or even an exciting thing to do on honeymoon, like a helicopter ride.

I'm going down the charity pin route, probably having them attached to the name cards.

Think we will also get some wrapped choc hearts too & put them in bowls or something like that - you can get some really reasonably priced.

We're having organza bags filled with pink heart dragee type sweets.

Went to a wedding the other week and they had little boxes of chocolate eggs - ate all of them because the food took so long to come!

Well,,,, until i joined this website i had no bloody clue what they were and had only ever been to one wedding where they had them.

I just feel like people who are marrried/ getting married/ know what they are would expect them....?? maybe not i guess.

These are ours. A little flower pot which I have painted and they will have a few seeds in (3 packs for a quid, local pound shop?) I like the idea of them having something they can keep although they may be a little disappointed there are no sweets but tough?

I say save your money too.....!! I've been to a fair few weddings, and to be honest, I've not missed them. If anything, I've lost mine as I've got up and had a boogy later in the evening!

The last wedding I went to, my friend who's wedding it was gave me about 5 boxes of chocs at the end of the night, and H2B about the same that had been left on tables! Being the control freak she was, she didn't want anything to be wasted so we got them!!

Ooh, one good favour was a wedding I went to last year, where the bride had made dragonfly like brooches for the female guests (nothing for the blokes) and these were attached to the napkins to add to the table decoration.

However, most did get left behind still, but at least it doubled up as something else!!

We're having 2 different charity pins, in memory of our dads. We're having heart foundation for my dad, and either cancer research or St Giles for FIL. putting them in an organza bag, with a little "in memory" card. These are just for people coming to the ceremony.

    Oooh thanks!!

Whilst agree that favours are in no way necessary and if I went to a wedding that didn't have them I wouldn't notice, if you want them and have accounted for them in your budget then have them.

I have chopped and changed my mind about wedding favours and none of my family seem to have heard of them before. I've not been to any weddings recently so not sure if the done thing or not. In the end I have decided to go for the New Zealand chocolate bars that I posted the other week. They are not that expensive and a bit different. If they do get left over not a biggie really.People may like them later on in the eve.

were having these "bonbonieres", me and my mum made them this weekend, got the nets and ribbons off e bay and the almonds from confetti, cost about £25 in total to make 100!

My lovely talented mum is making white chocolate and tia maria truffles for everybody -1 each and ive got some little ivory boxes to put them in - the boxes were really cheap 10p each I think ?? and I am just putting a little red heart on the top to go with my theme !

was not going to bother as I do see it as a bit of a waste of £ and have seen so many weddings where they are left behind and you can see quite a bit of money has been spend on box / fillings etc but seen as mine were so cheap i thought why not !! everyone likes a choccie !!! ummmmmmm white choc truffles ummmmmmm

I had never heard of them either til i joined Hitched (Though I was vaguely aware that it was tradional to provide a little bag of sugared almonds and have seen this before).

I was planning not to bother as I think you could end up with something a bit naff. I am however now contemplating providing some Grasmere Gingerbread - as it is fairly local to us, and also because its bl00dy gorgeous! They do sell little heart shaped boxes with 2 small pieces in designed to be favours for £1.30 which seems a bit cheesy and not good value when you can get 6 big pieces in the shop just wrapped in normal paper for not much more. I may just get some of the 6-piece packets, and instead of putting them on tables, stick them in a basket on the table with guestbook/cards etc with a 'help yourself' sign. Wont need to get one for every guest then ... maybe 60-70 packets between 120 or so guests? Or I may just decide even that is a waste of money and hang onto my pennies!

We're having these boxes filled with pink foil wrapped chocolate hearts. I'll probably get some pink ribbon to stick on the front. It's about £60 for 100 favours. I don't care if people leave them behind, I'll quite happily eat the leftovers 😄

I must be in the minority, as I've never been to a wedding that didn't have favours so I would notice if there wasn't any!! I always take them home too. I think they are a really nice touch.

Im having truffles too (made by my mum) and Im just going to put them in little boxes with ribbon on them (again I've seen these for mega cheap!) I've also bought minatures for the men as I felt a bit bad giving all the women favours and nothing for the guys. Im doing them but in all honestly, it will probably cost about £20 - £30 max so I don't mind!

I wasn't going to have any but then my uncle offered me sugared almonds for nothing because he packs then as part of his fruit and nuts buisness so I thought I would just get some nice bags or boxes from ebay to put them into. Plus it will be an extra little decoration on the table because I am not having big centre pieces

We're making home-made fudge for our favours - we've made it lots of times before and it always goes down well! We're putting it in cello bags and it really won't cost very much at all. As someone else said, we'll quite happily eat any leftovers!

I don't think favours are essential but I think they are a nice way to add a quirky/fun touch. I'm actually embarrassed now by how much I'm spending on favours seeing the bargains some of you have found!

    I've ordered some of these;
