Favors I can put in jars!

loves-young-dream, 1 December, 2012 at 08:04 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello! Looking for some ideas here, for my favors I have been collecting little jars that I was going to fill with jam but have kind of gone off this idea now as I'm worried it'll be something people just don't use or will leave on the table!

just wondering if anyone has any better ideas I could put n my little jars!? (not sweets as will have a sweet buffet)

Thanks xx

I always find that edible favours dont get left on the table, so dont think people will leave jam.

How big are your jars? Here are some ideas (but depends on the jar size):

sunflower seeds with a little tag with instructions for planting, chutney, jelly like blackberry jelly, rosehip jelly, apply jelly etc. A home-made candle in the jar (you can buy wax, wicks & fragrances online).

I have lots of jars in different sizes!

I love the candle idea, I did always think maybe a cookie mix or cookies stacked up in a jar? A bit fiddly but I'm prepared for that

    Thanks for the ideas x

I like the cookie mix idea...I did this last year for friends for Christmas and they loved them Smiley smile You might need quite big jars though.

Candles are a great idea too. A wedding last year had sunflower seeds with a label celebrating the wedding and telling us when to plant the seeds so they bloomed in time for the anniversary.

Mini homemade cookies would be good too, popcorn (popped or unpopped!), cupcakes (just seen a pic of this, looks quite cool, will flash a pic), chutney, hot chocolate recipe with marshmallows, pie in a jar?

Ok having researched this I am having wobbles over my favours, there are so many ideas of jar favours I want to do! Lol. Maybe birthday/Christmas presents....

Wow some lovely ideas! I love the top picture! I do love things in jars, as I'm going for a cath kidston theme wedding for september 2014 (far away I know I just have ants in my pants to do things!!) I want them to have cath kidston type fabric round the top I think it'll look lovely. I do like the popcorn idea too!

Also am not very good at baking so I will have lots of time to practice if I do plan on baking something like cookies!!

    Thanks xx

Peanut or almond brittle is another idea.

I'm going to make shortbread, that could be a good idea too! But I'm sure nobody would leave jam, its too delicious to leave on a table!!!

How about growing little herbs in each one?

Maybe basil or parsley as they are both easy to grow.

They would make nice table decorations too.

These are my little jars, I think we are gonna put jelly beans in them- nice are bright!

Some lovely ideas- I just don't have the patience / skills to make them personally!
