Favour advice

MRS RB, 13 June, 2014 at 00:15 Posted on Planning 0 5

So after my ramblings on here earlier, then a chat with H2B (and some tears), we talked about favours. We already knew what we wanted mini chocs (posted a pic the other day) and mini vodkas- we found a website where you can buy mini bottles and fill yourself so reduces the cost.

Question is- do I need to run the vodka past the wedding coordinator? Realistically most people are going to drink it there and then and not take them home so will the venue see it like we are doing them out of money?

Check your contract from the venue.

Some contracts specifically say "corkage of £10 will be charged on any bottles brought in, and £1 on each alcoholic wedding favour" for example.

If it doesn't say that, you can chance it, and not give them an opportunity to say no by asking the wedding coordinator.

We used alcoholic favours, but put a note in with them along the lines of "please save this for a night cap on the way home, and don't consume on the premises". It at least showed we were trying to do the right thing, should any subsequent row break out with the venue owners. We've not heard from the venue since the wedding last month, so it seems to have worked out ok....

Ooooh what did you have? Love the idea of a 'consume off the premises' tag to cover my backside.

hadn't even thought to check contract- if there was a something like that in there then I think we would look at doing a drinks voucher instead; as it would end up costing about the same

Had some whiskey for the gents.

I got some cellophane bags (like link below), silver ties, and put the booze inside the bag with a note (obvs printed the notes nicely on home printer).

It seemed that the warning note may have got lost in the favour bag if I just bunged them all in loose, so I decided the only way I could try and ensure it was read BEFORE the booze was necked was if the note was face up and read through the plastic before the bottle was taken out of the cellophane.

Def speak to the wedding coordinator so that there are not any issues on the day.

Wedding coordinator said yes but we need to try and encourage people to take away with them, she did also put something about not being able to police it :-)
