Favour Flash. Show me yours!!

nicky167, 10 July, 2009 at 09:53 Posted on Planning 0 24

With less than 2 months to go until the big day, I thought I should probably get on with organising favours for our day guests. I can't decide on what favours I want though. I need some inspiration so: What are you all having??

    I've still got a year to go, but we'll probably have charity pins for the British heart foundation and a cancer charity as they mean a lot to both H2B and I.

    Laura - love the idea of doing this. Everyone had buttonholes at all the family weddings I went to as a child! Please let me know how it works out!

    My current plan is to make wine charms as favours to add some colour / sparkle to the table.

    Here are my decorated favour boxes (well the ones I have made so far!)

    They will be lined with tissue paper and filled with retro sweets like these

    There will be one type in each box and about 10 different sorts so in theory everyone on the table gets something different, so it may be something to talk about. (Laura_Lee's idea) I wanted a sweety station, h2b wanted bowls of sweets on tables, this is a compromise!!

    Thats what I thought... I loved that and noone does it anymore... ☹️ I can see why though its an easy way to save money but as we aren't doing favours we could.

    As OH said handing them around "will give the ushers something to do" ?

    Thanks all for the replies. It gives me a few things to think about.

    Zippy, can I be cheeky & ask where you are planning on getting the retro sweets from. That sounds like a fab idea. (I might eat them all myself though. ? )

    I had wine charms around the glasses with an organza bag and a tag explaining the charms were for the guests to keep.

    We didn't have favours as such, but similar to Laura Lee, we had thistles as napkin tuck-ins, which he hoped people would take as a keep-sake.

    You can see it here, along with our dessert!

    We had Yorkshire Tea (I'm a true yorkshire lass!!) and Tarporley chocolate in the shape of hearts, gold silver and pink with brown and pink ribbon around them (where H is from in Cheshire!)

    We put them out in nice brown baskets like these:

    We had these made for people who had helped us through the planning or on the day:

    I also made every one of our guests a buttonhole... beautifully demonstrated by the row of aunties in coordinating neapolitan ice cream colours!!

    I'm having these for the boys;

    and these for the girls;

    They'll be in some cellophane with a gift tag from Vistaprint.

    I just need to stop 'testing' them between now and then!

    I didn't make it - too much stress right before the wedding - I got a local lady to do it - she sells fudge at our local farmers market! Although it wouldn't have been that bad to make it in the end!
