We're doing little goodie bags of home made treats such as mini pots of jam, along with tablet, shortbread, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and possibly a cupcake each...I'm thinking of having them handed out straight after the ceremony at the champagne reception so that people have something to nibble on while we have our photos done - as we aren't having any canapes.

Don't mean to hijack but on a sidenote, would you think this was odd if you were handed a bag of homemade nibbles at this stage in the day?

No I'd think it was ace!

usually this is around the time i think several glasses of pimms is a good idea, then realise I haven eaten and it goes straight to my head so i end up on a canape mission to soak up said pimms so for me this would be awesome, I also think any time is a good time for homemade nibbles

I have made 50 bag charms for the girls, which look a little like this, with pink and gold colours:

Only charm left is an initial, when we know who's coming. It took me a while and hurt my fingers a lot! Also, had to buy about three different sets of jewellery pliers and now know more about headpins than I care to remember.

I have also made 50 guitar pick keyrings for the boys, featuring our favourite bands.

We are totally nicking Tinks' idea of a 'favour table' as completely want to spoil our guests as they are all travelling so far to our wedding.

Luckily I am a baking queen, and was already making handmade chocolates and little pots of jam and chutney so will now make some other goodies and source some other bits and bobs from good ol' Vistaprint (postcards, magnets, pencils etc) and ebay!

And no....in my experience there is never a 'bad time' to hand someone a bag of homemade goodies!!

We've gone for miniatures bottles of alcohol for the boys and stacks of green and black miniature chocolate bars for the girls. With the chocolate, we've tied 3 little bars together with raffia (which fits our 'theme' and was on the invite). Occasionally, we will swap the favours for the appropriate people (for example one girl LOVES jaegerbombs so we sourced a mini bottle of this for her).

Wasn't too costly as some of the bottles were swiped from hotel mini bars ?

Nope, I'm the sort of person that would think it was a really sweet idea and would prob even nibble the lot before the champagne was finished, lol.

Umm, I'm stuck with this too...need something cheap so probably going for chocs & mints however a few ideas we had a long the way:

Scratchcards, lottery tickets (don't think I could cope if someone won the jackpot tho) lol!

mini rubicks cubes, minatures, seeds (not sure if all of our guests would appreciate these tho)!

We think we are going to have a sweet buffet for each table with glass bowls in a circle round our centrepiece with different sweets in each bowl with a paper bag on each plate and mini scoops so people can help themselves.

I did mention this to the H2B and he said the same thing which is why we are not doing it now. I did say to him though what would it matter if one of the guests did win as he is getting his own little jackpot which money could not possible buy. He just looked at me like I had gone mad ?

We are having 3 miniature bars of green & Blacks chocolate tied in gold ribbon to match our colour scheme, however we have 60 unsuitable bride & Groom cake boxes that are too small so we are going to put mints inside and give them out too now!

Cheap and easy here too ?

We have dark blue organza bags which we're going to fill with silver foil chocolate hearts/stars (whichever I can source for the best price!).

Slightly o/t but does anyone know how far in advance you can prepare chocolate favours to avoid them spoiling before the big day?

Not 100% sure yet and i'm still toying with different ideas. Want something that fairly cheap so thinking bout good old heart shaped foil chocs in a box or bag depending on how my budget going nearer the time OR little poems made into scrolls.

Thinking of maybe doing wine glass charms with everyones name on them as place names, this will also be something that can be kept.

Like i say npt made any decisions yet, change my mind eveyday!

We are going to have Cancer Research pins with a note saying a donation has been made on their behalf (not sure whether to put in memory of x & x) will also have organza bags with love hearts and chocolates and thinking about cupcakes in a jar that I saw advertised at a wedding fare.

Rather than clog up the table will personalise gift bags, put the order of service in and ask the Ushers to hand out at the church as guests arrive.
