Favourite Takeaway??

Gracey, 29 January, 2014 at 21:00 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 42

Just wondering, exactly that really whether it's your local curry / Chinese / Thai / Fish and chips / Pizza / Indian or whether you prefer more of a 'national chain' ie MaccyDs, KFC, Pizzahut, Dominos etc, and why?? And how come there aren't really 'national chains' of Chinese and curry places - or not that I know of anyway?

I'n not sure we have a favourite, there is a local curry, burgers, pizza place that is pretty good, but sometimes you just can't beat a good KFC!!

I can't pick a favourite. It depends on my mood. I love Dominos, curries and Chinese. And decent fish and chips. In fact any takeway. Especially at the moment because I'm dieting.

I'd pick local Chinese, Indian or fish and chips over places like McDonalds and KFC.

There isn't a takeaway I don't like. Chinese is definitely my favourite local one, as for national chains I change all the time. At the moment my favourite is subway. Mmmmm.

    This is a hard question.

If I had to pick one it would probably be the chippy. But, I can't eat it all that often, not sure why. I eat pizza most regularly.

I'll choose Chinese every time. I go through phases of what my meal of choice is, and which is my favourite restaurant. I can transfer my affections at the drop of a below par ried rice.

KFC is like deep fried scabby pigeon ?

Ooh hard question. I'd probably have to say dominos! Like Chinese curry sauce and love chippy chips too.
Don't like mcdonalds or burger king etc and I've never had a kfc in my life!

    1 Pizza

    2 Chinese

    3 Thai

    4 Indian

Chains of Chinese & Indians tend to be more restaurant type that offer take aways rather than exclusively geared towards take away market e.g The Real China http://www.therealchina.co.uk/ or you have the likes of 'Yo Sushi' 'Wasabi' etc

I know a few Indian chains based in London but not aware of any national chains.

Chinese & Indian restaurants are generally small family run businesses (or at least they start out that way initially) hence why they probably don't go national.

I'm not sure I can create a ranking, it depends on my mood and what I fancy!

Love fish and chips but we don't have a decent one near us. We have a very good Chinese place near us which does AMAZING Mongolian lamb, but I also enjoy pizza (bit fussy over toppings though - hate mushrooms, olives and artichokes!) and curry. There is an amazing burrito place in Canary Wharf, and H will sometimes bring some home.

I don't use McD's, BK, KFC etc as takeaway - I might eat there if I'm travelling, or out and about somewhere and want a quick bite (and I treat myself to a McD's breakfast after finishing a run of night shifts!) but would never bring their food home for dinner.

    Chinese definitely.

We have loads of takeaways by us but I'd choose Chinese first and a chippy second. A mcds or KFC is more if were out somewhere and need a quick meal. I would never have it as a treat for tea or anything whereas a Chinese is more of a thing we do for birthdays, date nights etc.

We tend to have Chinese most often if we're going to have a takeaway. Then very occasionally either pizza, fish and chips, Indian or McDonalds/KFC.

Most definitely Indian, I just cannot make it as nice at home! Closely followed by Dominoes.

We never have McDonalds/Burger King and would only really have Subway/KFC if we were out and about, not as our main meal to take home.

I love them all but if I had to put them in order it would be something like this:

    Chinese

    Pizza

    Thai

    Indian

    Fish & Chips

    Mcdonalds

    KFC

I think Pizza is the only kind of takeaway we ever have!

We don't go to McDonalds/Burger King cause I'd rather have a proper burger. Indian food is something we also go out for it seems, or I just make it at home, and I hate Chinese food.

Chinese, for sure! Favourites include a prawn cocktail, crispy seaweed, or salt and chilli chicken wings as a starter...followed by Szechuan king prawn or aromatic crispy duck for a main course.

If we have a takeaway it's more often than not a Chinese - we occasionally have Indian, but are much more likely to go to the restaurant than have the takeaway (it's a restaurant, which also does takeaway in the next village over).

We sometimes have fish and chips, but we tend to have that for lunch over teatime.

McD's, KFC etc are usually if we are out and about and need some grub.

Definitely Indian, but sometimes you just cant beat a decent chicken kebab !!

Like others I dont really class KFC, McDonalds etc as a takeaway, I normally eat those things if I am out and about shopping or something, and Subway I would have for lunch at work if I didnt bother making something at home.

Fish and chips or Dominos for me. There's a good Indian takeaway near us, but the Chinese takeaways aren't particularly good.

H and I have KFC/McDonalds occasionally if we're out but we try to find an alternative if possible.

Fish and chips top of the list then indian next.

As Ixia said if we're out and about we tend to pop to KFC/McDs/Burger King because it's cheap and quick

I get laughed at by my junk food eating colleagues at lunch time - I've only ever had two KFCs in my life (first one was rank, second one some years later was to check that the first was as rank as I thought - it was!) I've only every had one Nandos and one Subway every and didn't like either of them ?

I like Burger King but only eat it at (uk) airports. I really don't know why. I was very unwell on way home from B'ham Otter meet and an airport BK cured me instantly! I have a McDs if I'm out shopping or something as a treat, but never for dinner as others have said.

If we are phoning a take away we get Dominos or a Chinese. If we are stopping to bring one home it's an Indian. Weird eh? Saying that though we actually really very rarely eat take aways - perhaps once every two months max.

We either go for fish and chips or Chinese. We have a great Chinese that delivers and they do an amazing Thai green curry. We used to live near sn indian and we would collect a take away from them. They don't deliver though and are no longer walking distance :0( If we want pizza we'll get it from the supermarket, i think pizza hut and dominoes are quite pricy!

We don't have any chains. It's usually the Chinese due to H's preference. I like a chippy personally. A Fish supper normally.

On the rare occasion that we have a takeaway, it'll be Indian. Though my favourite is this Italian Pizza place not far from me. They do THE BEST coleslaw. So stringy and mayonnaisey. It's lush!!

This is a hard question, it really depends on our mood, but I think either a chippy or an Indian for take away as they are most convenient and local take aways tilt we have.

I wish there was a Mexican takeaway near us, that would get used weekly!

Definitely Indian, although H prefers Chinese and I'm too much of a people pleaser to get my way most of the time!

I can see Dominos Pizza from my bedroom window but probably only have it a couple of times a year.
