favours

cozmiceye, 5 February, 2012 at 17:09 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi,

My OH and I have decided to do the favours ourselves to save abit of money and we are looking for ideas. We have bought spice jars and are planning to put a designed label on the top and a ribbon around the middle but were looking for something different to put inside them. So far we have only come up with sweets as everything seems so big and expensive.

Our colour theme is cadburys purple and silver. Any suggestions would be grateful.

Thanx x

I got sticky labels made at vistaprint. If you have them with the slowest delivery option, its not too expensive, otherwise you can buy blank sticky labels fom ebay & print them yourselves.

I did home-made chocolates. Well, cadbury chocolate, melted, then added differernt ingrediants & put into moulds. I use proper chocolate moulds, & also silicone ice cube moulds that were shaped. There will be lots of heart/rose shaped moulds going cheap after valentines day!

When you say spice jar, do you mean a slim, tall one you buy spices in from a supermarket, or a fatter one? Some ideas for home-made goodies to go inside:

    Marshmallows rolled in toasted coconut

Coconut ice (depending on your theme colours, you can make the ice that same colours)

    Chutney

Flavoured vinegars or oils- rosemary, garlic, chilli etc

    Jam

    Shortbreads

    Rocky road

We have mini jam jars and are thinking one of the following options:

-homemade jam with personalised labels (I want this!)

    -homemade scented candles

-home roasted nuts in honey and soy sauce with some rock salt (very very tasty and intended as a little snack for during the speeches as we are planning on doing these first)

As Teal says though, it would depend on the size and shape of the jar you've gone for. Ours are like the little individual jam pots you get in hotels, we ordered 130 of them for about £25 from a wholesaler.

The lid is 4.5cm for the label to cover all off it. We keep coming back to sweets but not sure if that is just the easy option.

Thanx for the ideas there great and gives me something to think about it.x

If these are the size of the jars, then I dont think any of my foody suggestions would fit in in there! Maybe chocolate coated nuts or sultanas? Chilli jam?

save the picture to your computer, then when you post click on the icon that looks like a strip of film (left of the trss and smiley) a box will come up that says browse. that allows you to look in the folders on your computer, click and open then save the pic you want. it should appear
