Favours

Sparklebright, 2 July, 2012 at 09:24 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hiya

Has anyone got any nice ideas for favours that arent too pricey?

I thought about doing home made jam in jars with a pretty lid cover- spoke to some of my guests and they don't really seem impressed by that and say they probably wouldn't use it.

I really dont want to spend a whole hunk of cash on something so minor especially if people aren't going to use them!

I don't want something run of the mill either like sweets in organza bags!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received

x

I think mine have worked out cheaper than chips really. I have bought some ivory organza bags, filling them with wrapped sweeties (small bag of vegetarian jelly sweets, a lolly and a Celebration chocolate). they are wrapped so no-one is handling them, my sister has a thing about people touching her food and as the In Laws are putting them together the fact its someone she doesn't know is making them is making her nervous - she doesn't have to eat them!! they're only sweets! They'll have a little Thank You label inside too. They look quite cute and the grown-ups will have a button on them too, as thats our theme. Kiddies will have a goodie bag with colouring stuff and some puzzles to keep them occupied.

I think they have worked out just under a £1 each, kids goodie bags being a bit more.

Love your favours HLT! We were going to give jam jars too but think I'm going to put those on the dessert table instead and we are currently thinking of having old fashioned toys - think of ones you get in crackers! - very cheap and fun!

I wasn't going to bother, since we're not having a formal breakfast, but I suddenly had a panic the other day where I thought how many extra glasses we would have to hire with a buffet-type affair, since everyone will be putting them down and losing them all the time! So I'm getting personalised wine glass charms, which work out about 49p each, and I'll tie them to a card with a piece of ribbon asking people to use them over the whole weekend.

Well while loooking online yesterday i've brought some really cute blackboard heart peg name tags so i figure these are a keepsake in itself so I'm thinking as a little gift some sweeties would be OK.

I really want to do a sweetie buffet type thing so I wondered if I got some jars, painted and personalised them and then let people fill them up themselves if that would suffice, what do you think:?

My theme is English picnic/Aussie BBQ so I bought some gingham fabric online and cut it up into squares, ready to pop in some jelly beans or perhaps some bananas and shrimps, and then tie up with elastic and a little piece of card that says 'EAT ME' on them.

We are having wine bottle stoppers for the ladies and bottle openers for the men, with a scratch card as well.

I wasn't going to do favours, as I would rather put the money I would have spent on them behind the bar in the evening.

However, as my OH is renowned for his love of Pringles, everyone will be getting a mini tube with a label thanking them for coming. Will work out about £1 per person I think.

This really gets my goat. I'm doing little jam jars of homemade chutneys as my favours, mainly as we are having a Cheese cake (ie, wheels of cheese, as opposed to cheesecake!) so guests will be able to use their chutneys with that later in the evening Overall will work out at around 70per guest for the cost of the jar and the chutney - which ist about £45 for 65 gusts. I certainly wouldnt want to spend anymore than this! If any of my guests dont like chutney - that's their issue not mine

I certainly wouldnt be bothered otherwise to do anything ott or expensive (it amazes me the amount people spend on favours!). Considering I'm already giving my guests canapes, a slap up 3 course meal, food in the evening, free entertainment and a fair amount of free alcohol, I dont see why I should give them a little gift too and certianly am not worried about whether or not they like it or would be 'impressed' with it!

    Grrrrr

Do you and your OH support any charities?

You could have charity pins/keyrings. Before we changed our plans,H and I were going to have Cancer research and BHF pins, as both charities meant a lot to us.
