Favours. Anyone not having them?

FutureMrsWilson, 25 May, 2011 at 11:53 Posted on Planning 0 11

OH and my Mum seem to think they are a waste of time and money.
I'm inclined to agree, but lots of people seem to think (some of) our guests will be offended.

Anyone not having favours, or doing something different with the cost that still benefit guests and shows appreciation?

I'm probably not. I'm planning on supplying enough alcohol for guests to drink through the day, and possibly into the evening as well, instead.

We decided not to have favours.

We did a quick survey of our friends and asked them to tell us what the favours had been at the last three weddings they had attended - no one could remember. So we concluded that the money could be better spent elsewhere!!

I have been to wedding without favours and to e honest I didn't even notice until someone else pointed it out. Unless you have plenty of budget I personally think that the money is better spent elsewhere!

We sis have them but it was a case of wanting to give the guests something they could keep from the day and since we had so few we coul do that but if we had a big wedding and were limited on what we could spend i dont think i would have bothered, I can onhly remember the favours at one wedding i have been to (lovely molton and brown minitures set!) the others I couldnt even tell you if they had them.

I guess Im saying that if you have the budget to make them something special then great but if you are gonna put something down cheaply for the sake of just having something I wouldnt bother, I honestly dont think people will notice!

I absolutely agree. We won't be having favours because I think it's yet another thing manufactured by suppliers to try to get us to spend more money for no good reason. People will come to your wedding to share your special day and celebrate with you. Anyone who cares that they don't have a chocolate in a box (or whatever) on their place setting needs to get a grip!!

We're having our ceremony in Rome anyway with about 20 guests and our thank you to them for coming will be a fabulous meal on a rooftop terrace restaurant overlooking the Eternal City that they will never forget :-)

We're not having them. Personal opinion is that they don;t actually add that much to the day, and I've seen so many get left behind on tables.

Frankly, if anyone is "offended" by not getting a favour then tough bananas - I don't actually care!! (oooh strong words from me there!)

Trying not to have them. My fiancee hasn't yet come up with a single idea that doesn't make me think "yeah, will our guests REALLY want to keep that?" because even though our wedding is pretty damn important to us, to most of our guests they're not going to want to constantly remember it. If we do have them I think it'll be something they can eat, rather than keep. The way I see it is if our guests want something to keep from the wedding then we can send them a photo, that's good enough.

    Hi

I didn't have them, all I had was small activity packs for the children that came.

We are but only for the ladies, and we are only doing this as I liked the idea- I had been making lavender fabric hearts for my house, then a week later I was proposed to... I thought, "ooh, they would be nice as favours".... if I hadn't thought of this, I wouldn't have bothered. I have to many weddings without favours and they haven't been missed.

Nope we're not. we're having a sweetie table and a photobooth so the guests will have a pic and some sweets to take with them...nothing else really jumps out at me.

We weren't going to have them but with only 27 guests we have decided to, we are not spending much but just having a cute little bag of sweets on each place setting, I think it works out about £20.00 so not breaking the bank.

Not planning to have favours at each setting, but going to up the dessert quantities for the evening buffet by having "favours" of various home made fudge (chocolate from Nigella Express) shortbread, peppermint creams and brownies in pretty organza bags
