Favours FLASH!

*sweetpea*, 27 February, 2012 at 21:00 Posted on Planning 0 17

Well Saturday was a VERY industrious day with 6 of my best girls round at the house helping me put the favours together. We glass painted nearly 100 champagne flutes with guests' names, tied ribbon round each glass (lavender for the girls, tartan for the boys) and also assembled tags with a thank you sticker, love heart, diamante and a charm for the girls. I am THRILLED to bits with them. The photos aren't great but give an idea! It's worked out about £1 per glass. My plan is serve the reception drinks in these and so each guest will have to find their glass as they arrive.

Don't mind at all. They are Ikea so not the most beautiful but at 38p a glass who can argue?! The rest of the money I spent on glass paints, ribbons, charms, stickers etc etc etc

I searched for glass painting pens on ebay and found different types. I opted for two different sets and both were used. Some have to be baked in the oven to 'set' them but I decided that was too much hard work hence putting a charm/ribbon on so if the name washes off then something else is left!! My OH is going to mention this in his speech!

I got mine from here http://www.thegiftofcreativity.co.uk/Vitrea-160-GLOSSY-and-FROSTED-Glass-Pens-SINGLES_A10C8N.aspx?nh=0, i havent tested whether they are water resistant just yet, i got some paint that you had to bake and did a trial and although i wasnt the colour i wanted they are water resistent , i'm sticking jewels on mine too so doubt they will be water resistant anyway

Yeah I don't think we saw them on the website either - they have so much stock in Ikea that the website may only showcase some things. As I recall they have pricier glasses online. They were selling them in store in boxes of 6 for £2.28. We also bought wine glasses at the same price. Asda had quite cheap ones too - about 50p a glass I think.

Here is the prototype of our wedding favours. I'm hand engraving 80 coasters which everyone can take, they will be presented in a card sleeve explaining the meaning of our theme and any left will form sets for our parents (or us!)

Sorry about the massive pic Smiley atonished
