Favours - Show me yours!

HLT, 26 March, 2012 at 19:48 Posted on Planning 0 18

Initially I didn't want favours (couldn't be bothered and didn't want the additional cost) but I'm starting to feel like I need to have something fiddly to "do" to prep for the wedding! Therefore, I'm looking for some inspiration and it MUST be cheap! No bottles of Molton Brown for our guests!!

I was thinking about these? - http://www.purefavours.co.uk/heart-mini-pail-white.html

I emailed them direct as they only have the bigger ones on their website (was initially just being cheeky to try and get a better price on the bigger ones) ?

Hi HLT, we are doing something similar with sweets but are making them ourselves. Really easy and should hopefully come in at around £1 or just over each.

We have got these from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40064702/

We are ordering personalised stickers from EBay with our names and weddng dates on. You can also get tags to tie around as well.

Then we are filling them with sweets that we loved as kids. I love rhubarb and custards and pips. You can bulk buy from the internet Smiley surprise)

I can't flash but I think we're going to get 3 1kg jelly belly bags in our wedding colours - turquoise, pink and ivory - and put them in some kind of cheap ish bag, organza one maybe. The sweets are £20 per bag, organza bags next to nothing so I think for around 70 guests it will cost us about £70!

I haven't got a picture but we're having a clear box with 2 or 3 macaroons in (haven't decided how many yet), with a label round the box with the guest's names on so they can double up as place names.

We're having Hendricks Gin minatures (free, should have been about £3 each I believe) with a small tag tied round (about £2) with the name on it and a quilled lilac heart (quilling stuff was an xmas present) - double as a placename.

As we also have a load of whisky minatures (@£24 - friend worked at the distillery) kicking around we're leaving bags with whisky and cake at the door and a message saying "have a midnight snack on us" for everyone as they leave. Cake boxes were £7 or something, bags were about £3 and we have stickers with our names and the date on them to seal them (also about £3)

About £40 for two lots of favours for @40 guests - I'm such a bargain hunter!

You don't know by any chance where to get small jam pot covers do you? I have trawled the internet and can only find patterned ones!

Gempf - what kind of covers do you meet? like lids or material that you put over the top of the pot?

I really like the idea of donating money to a charity instead but do people want to be reminded of sad things on a happy day?

My oh family all have a genetic kidney problem and a few have had transplants .

Im doing a wine glass charm, just one per person, so really cheap with their names on and this little rhyme

A practical solution to whose wines glass is close by

Keep yours filled throughout the day and charm our dreams to fly

Then at the end of our day please take your charm with you

To carry on sweet memories of dreams which can come true

Some lovely crafty ideas on here!! We are doing charity favours. I was gonna get a pin badge or something but the charities we wanted didn't do any merchandise. Instead we have bought some green glass pebbles and put one in an organza bag for each guest. We have chosen 4 charities (OH, MOB &FOB, MIL2B, FIL2B, and I chose one each). Next to the guestbook table there will be 4 glass jars with sand and water in and the guests have to put their glass pebble in the one that they want their money to go to. We will count them up after the wedding and send an amount to each charity.
