Think ours will be cupcakes in a jar, love heart sweets and cancer research pins in memory of OH Dads, My Uncle and celebration of my Mum.

I had these for all female quests

and these for all the top table guests

They went around the wine glasses and I had a friend make us tags that said 'handmade with love by the bride, take these home with you' sort of thing and little organza bags for the wine charms to go into.

We've been struggling with this for ages. We wanted to do something that everyone would appreciate and something a bit more original than sweets. We've just decided today to give everyone a minature of Ameretto. Its no the most original and exciting of ideas but hopefully its something that people will enjoy and if not, they can give it to someone who will.

We weren't going to have favours but i found really cheap favour boxes that double up as name places (ebay!) - i have added the diamantes (ebay!) that match our wedding invites and am filling them with sparkly tissue paper (ebay!), 2 shell chocolates (to go with our beach theme) and a drink voucher with a pic of us on the 'just married' photo board on brighton pier - i know a lot of favours get left behind, but i shouldn't imagine that many of the drinks vouchers will get left behind!!!!

mum and dad wanted to put a bit of money behind the bar but wanted to make sure everyone gets a drink, so this was the solution!!

I'm getting some inspiration here. I need more! ?

Love the drinks voucher Mary. Not sure it'd work with us though as we're not putting money behind the bar or anything we're just putting wine on the tables but it's still a fab idea. I tend to buy everything from eBay if I can!

Abigiggle I love the soap idea.. and the home brew! I want to have two different types of favour as well as I know whatever I do, the men and women aren't going to enjoy the same things.

Yes please!! ? I did a friends baby shower once and made gift bags for the guests.. I bought hand-made soaps and wrapped those in cellophane bags tied with ribbon.. I think I still have some of the cellophane bags left so I think I'll definitely do something where I can use those otherwise they'll sit in my craft box and never see the light.

Our daughter had lush favours which were a mixture of soaps for the males and bath bombs for the ladies. :-

They came with the tags and already wrapped but we put the black bows on. They made the room smell gorgeous.

Would you tell me how you make them/where you get the "ingredients" to make them with please? I was going down the sweetie route but I think hand made soaps sound really nice Smiley smile

I had a lot of back and forth decisions where the favours were concerned, was going to do chocolates, alcohol minatures, wine glass charms etc but was worried that whatever we did would get looked at then thrown in a bag and never seen again and therefore would be a waste of money so decided to go down the 'charity' route....wanted to donate to breast cancer as both MIL2b and my aunty have beaten it but they don't seem to specify between the cancers so have donated to cancer research and getting a card for each person telling them we have made a donation on behalf of them and our names and wedding date. I would rather give the money to someone who needs it!

My favours are a secret (because they are silly and funny but wont be if people know) and since lots of my friends are getting married dont want to risk putting it on here, A few we considered were soap and chocolate but bear in mind the time of year - soap on a hot day will stink the place out if its not cool in the venue and chocolate will melt. Whatever you chose adding a really sweet personal message or poem makes all the difference.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks for all replies!

I was also thinking of the scratch card idea. We are only having about 48 guests, only about 35 of those being adults or at least old enough to have a scratch card in their possession! So I really want to have something else to go with the scratch cards. But not too pricey. But nice. And thoughtful.

Like Abbigiggle I am having soaps for the women as wedding favours.

I am having them made in the shape of butterlies to go with the wedding theme and they are also being made in the same colours to match my colour scheme. These are in little bags with the ribbon colour being the same as my colour scheme too! Love them!!

I havent quite decided for the men yet however i was thinking about minature bottles of alcohol.

I totally by chance found some little star photo globes filled with silver stars. Fits perfectly as our colour scheme is silver / purple. We're going to put pictures in them or some card with our names and wedding date on, as a little momento. Guests will also be able to put their own photo in afterwards if they want...!

I was so happy when I stummbles across them as I'd been thinknig about favours for ages but had no ideas apart from lottery tickets!

Ever single one of my guests is coming as part of a couple so if I did soaps and alcohol, each couple would get one of each anyway. Now if I had two lesbians coming.. they might be a bit miffed that they got two lots of soap..... I'm gonna steer away from the alcohol minatures, just because I have no idea what alcohol the guys like and I don't want to get it wrong and risk wasting my money. So I have decided to do the scratchcards and something else. Just don't know what yet.

There is a small possibility that I went over the top when it came to favours, Instead of one for everyone I set up a favour table and people then chose what they wanted.

So we had handmade soaps, handmade peppermint and raspberry creams, magnets, pencils, cookies and packets of tissues with handmade covers.

We were going to go for love heart sweets, then stumbled upon a local firm that do personalised toblerone chocolates 35g size. We will be off to look at her designs at the end of the month. When thats finalised I'll be able to order the matchboxes for the tables so people can light the candles and tealights. I'll be wanting the designs to be as similar as possible.

I'm getting married abroad (Turkey) so got some lovely favour bags and will be getting fresh Turkish deligh and filling them out there the morning of the wedding for each and every guest, also have large edible silver balls which I'll mix in with them.

I can't really take out alcohol miniatures incase they spill or break in my case and chocolate would melt, so taking scratch cards for the men and personalised Welsh love spoons for the women (we're all Welsh) and I like the idea of having keepsakes so we'll have a Turkish/Welsh gift theme.

We're also taking out chinese wish lanterns (bio degradeable ones) for on the beach afterwards as both our grandparents have passed away and have lost alot of our family to cancer who can't be with us on the day. So we're thinking lightweight and non-breakable gifts! xx
