February 2012 Brides?

MrsGtoB, 1 September, 2011 at 22:16 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi, I'm new to the site and getting married on 25th February 2012.

Seriously freaking out by how quick it has come round and how little I have done planning wise!

Any ideas about where I should be? Have booked the Church, Reception Venue, Booked DJ, Sorted H2B suit and got bridesmaid dresses. Haven't ordered my dress, got a photographer or sent save the dates out yet (which we will hopefully get around to sending out this weekend!). What else should I have done already?

We are trying to keep costs down by doing things ourselves, but getting the ideas off paper into reality is quite a slow process!

Only have 6 months to go! ?

Hi date twin!! Welcome to Hitched!!

How about Rings, Flowers? Stationary for the Day as well? Favours?

I have still got a lot to do hoping to order Bridesmaid dresses this weekend! a bit late oops.

Definitely get your TOG sorted if this is something that is important to you.

    Whereabouts are you getting married?

I thought Feb would be a quiet month for weddings but it does not seem to be, i can't believe its just over 25 weeks til i get married eeek

Yay! Date Twin!! Thanks for the welcome!

We are doing all the invites and stationary ourselves, and received the massive 'cardstock' order yesterday! So have that in hand for every weekend leading up to Christmas!! Got ideas about rings and favours - just need to actually make a decision and order things!!

The bridesmaid dresses were the first wedding purchase strangely! I kept changing my mind with the colour scheme and thought if I got the dresses i liked then the colour would be set! Think there is a pattern of indecisiveness emerging here!!?

The Photographer I am having problems wiith - just want a few formal shots and the rest natural! Have one recomended by the venue and someone I used to go to school with (years ago) is also a photographer - not sure if i will find it wierd having someone I kind of know taking pictures or whether a stranger would be odd! Not the best at posing!!

I'm getting married in West Sussex - always wanted a winter wedding, but with last years snow, was worried people wouldn't make it so pushed it back a few weeks to feb! It does seem to be quite a busy month for weddings!!

Where are you getting married? How far are you with planning?

    Hi

We sent out our save the dates in about March and will be sending our actual invites out about October time with RSVP of December 1st, that way i can chase up over Christmas!!

TOG was the first thing we booked everything else i keep changing my mind over!!

I am getting Married in Yorkshire, at Hazlewood Castle, so hoping for a covering of snow but just a covering!! otherwise will have no guests!!

My aunt is my florist so that is one thing sorted, My dress was ordered in April and should be in by October.

We have had this booked since March 2010 but i have just been very lazy with planning!!

Suits were chosen last week, Rings we got in January, Stationary was chosen earlier this year and then our venue is doing our day stationary

Venue provides chair covers, sashes, DJ, Toastmaster etc so they do a lot for us and will be staying at the venue the night of the wedding.

Have just booked String Quartet for the ceremony music.

We met with the venue a few weeks ago and chose our drinks and package for our food, only having small day guest numbers, 45 in the day then an extra 160 coming to the evening.

Have bought sweets and jars for the sweetie buffet

Still need to confirm vows, readings and music for the ceremony

Favours will be Green and Black Chocolates OH is choosing those!!

So all in all a lot still to do but it seems to have all of a sudden come round!!

    xx

    Hi ladies,

I am on 4th Feb 2012 and starting to get rather stressed about the endless to-do list!

We still have to sort dress, suits, bridesmaids dresses, DJ, cake, chair covers, videographer plus all the other little bits and pieces I can't think of right now.

The main things that we have sorted are venue, registrar, TOG, centre pieces, favours, rings, invites and honeymoon.

I keep putting off dress shopping as I really wanted to lose a lot of weight but just can't seem to stick to dieting at the mo.

Its getting scarily close now though, it doesn't seem that long ago that we had more than a year to go!

Are you both having a honeymoon, and if so where are you off to? x

Yeah I've given up on the idea of ordering mine I'm gonna try and get a sample or pre-loved dress for myself and high street for the bridesmaids.

Your honeymoon sounds amazing! We had our hearts set on the Maldives but couldn't afford it in the end so having a fortnight in Mexico instead x

If we all put what we have all already organised we would have one fab complete wedding!!

Seems like Im not too far behind everyone, which is a relief!

Treacle76 - I was so worried about dress shopping I put it off until my mum practically dragged me to the shops, and have to say wasnt as bad as I was expecting! I found two fab dresses that look amazing on my (i have a waist!!) and the lady in the shop said that they can always take it in if the weight Im trying to loose comes off before the wedding! Im thinking that if it looks great on me now, even if i dont loose anything it will still look fab!

Dani1984 - Not only are we date twins, we are also nearly honeymoon twins! We are planning 3 nights in Dubai followed by a week in Mauritius! Can't wait for some sunshine! We haven't had a holiday this year as we wanted to push the boat out for the honeymoon - think i will probably be translucent on the day of the wedding!!

KateyP - welcome! Sounds like you have all the main things organised!

Think I will get writing my to-do list tonight (maybe with a bottle of wine to help!)

Hi to all you brides getting married in February 2012!

I note that a lot of you haven't organised your wedding photographer yet. I was the same with my photographer! There seemed to be such a variety on offer and such an enormous range of prices from about £500 up to about £2000! I wanted nice natural shots of the day and I wasn't really too keen on the traditional ver formal shots. In the end we used a photographer who specialised in doing music gigs. He was cheap but when we got the photographs back it was clear that he didn't have a lot of experience with weddings. Although the photographs we had were lovely he had missed some of the most important bits (like the cutting of the cake) and more importantly had never asked who we wanted in the photographs as a result we don't ahve any photographs with my sister or brother or with my husbands sister and her family. This is really dissapointing so I would say that it is important to make sure that you get a good photographer.

If you are looking for fairly natural photographs at a reasonable price then I have heard that empirical photography is very good. They are based in Bristol but most photographers are willing to travel!

    Good luck x

This post does not fit this thread and what a strange thing to post for your first post perhaps you need to read the rules
