Fecking Vandals

Baby Buns, 21 June, 2008 at 00:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Some scum of the earth have smashed my car's rear window ?. Police were great, someone came within the hour and has just left to have a scout around the area (apparently someone else has reported the same a few streets away). I'm now £60 out of pocket and have to drive to Autoglass to have a new one fitted at 8 am tomorrow, then have to go to the police station to make a statement tomorrow night.

Oh what a fun weekend this will be.

    Sorry for your troubles missus.....

And I do appreciate that it wasn't life and death (although it might seem like it). But..... I'm saddned by the fact that anyone in the UK can find a 'within the hour' responce to a crime to be laudable.

Not a reflection on you,or your local bobbies just...... heeeeh sadness.

Oh no. This happened to me about 3 years ago now. It feel awful when someone does that because it is for no reason whatsoever and they have damaged your property.

On a more positive note, I was insured with direct line, and they paid out for the rear windscreen replacement without it affecting my no claims bonus, so check your policy. You may not be out of pocket, but i understand, it is still a massive pain to have to sort out. Have you taped a black sack or something over it for the time being?

Morning all, just about to set off to have the replacement done - it is covered on insurance but the excess is £60 unfortunately. ONE - I know what you mean, but in the grand scheme of things happening on a Friday night my problem really wasn't a serious one ?

I feel for you i really do. The same happened to us a year or so back. No reason, some plank just decided to lob a lump on concrete through our rear window.

Auto glass visited, mucho problems concerning window clips etc etc. Now we put our car in a garage.

I hope the no lifers who did this to you get shat on by a passing aircraft empting their load.

I'm now seething - fricking Autoglass asked me to drive over to the next town for an 8 am appointment to replace the window - I've just got back and have to return at 4 pm because the window they had in stock apparently can't be found ?

Needless to say I'm about to try to speak to their complaints department. I thought they were supposed to come out to you anyway <sob, it's too early for this rubbish>

So sorry to hear that, how annoying. I'd be really fed up with Autoglass, I once asked them to come out to me and they gave me a date 2 weeks later. Give the complaints dept hell!

Was in a similar situation a few years ago, some twat put somthing through my rear passenger and driver side windows. The only reason the police came out there in then was my FIL2b was chasing after the guy as I phoned and he is a police officer didn't catch him, nothing much was done however.

Had problems with my insurance, they kept trying to tell me I was not covered as nothing had been stolen!

Autoglass were useless, the came out to my house and fixed the back window fine....they had a right mess of the front the body work had been damaged before but they made it worse and tried to say it was like that before! The guy couldn't fix the window in the front saying something had been damaged in the door and would have to take it to the service centre. The next day I took it there and they looked at my like I had 2 heads they didn't seem to understand what the problem was and why my car was there, the got the front window fixed no problem.

Oh and you NEVER get all the glass out your car, it goes everywhere!

Well I've complained to Autoglass and they said they would try to get me a mobile appointment from another branch, but someone would have to call me back. Cue the guy from the branch I went to this morning ringing me to tell me they didn't have any mobile appointments (which he'd already told me before I left this morning) and if I couldn't make the appointment we could rearrange (despite me having stressed to the woman at the call centre that I only wanted a mobile appointment if it would be earlier than 4 pm, otherwise I would keep the original appointment). So, no change, I will still be driving back over at 4, and I think I will be putting a complaint in writing instead.

Oh, and now it's raining so I really hope the bin liners we had to improvise with last night hold out! ?

Jo - I was hoping AG would vacuum the car, I'm just being silly now aren't I?!

Think so! I recommend a brush and pan and a plastic bag, followed by a dad with a dyson!

Damn! We got most of it out last night with a dustpan and brush, however a few more bits fell down on my wasted journey this morning, so I fear you may be right about never getting it all ☹️
