Fed up planning now ...............

WinterBride14, 5 September, 2014 at 13:19 Posted on Planning 0 18

I just wondered if anyone else has gotten to the stage where you are fed up of planning the wedding & just want to marry your man!?

This is where I am at the moment & we still have lots to do inlcuding making the place settings which are doubling up as the favours as well as table decorations, picking the music, the wine, finalising the sweet buffet, gifts....the list is endless.

Why do we do all this....I'm envious of all you lovelies who eloped & didnt do any of this!

Yep, must admit I got to that stage this week! I'm almost finished now, but I'm shattered! Really hoping it's all worth it. I just want to be married now!

My OH decided that it would be a great idea if we made crackers with everyone's name on - I've spent, weeks, looking for the right colour ribbon & I can't now get hold of the ONE supplier that i've found that has it. I'm losing the will to live with these damn things - they had better look good when they're done.

They will look something like this but with name tags on & instead of red chocolare heart chocolate (which taste quite revolting), we are putting 2 mini Green & Blacks chocolate bars in each as well as confetti.

Yeah, me too. I still have to buy underwear and shoes and a few other bits and it just seems tedious at the moment. I'm hoping my enthusiasm will pick up again!

I went through a 'why didn't we elope' stage.

It will get better as you get closer and it feels a bit more real.

Don't be silly, that's what hitched is for! Love your crackers by the way :-)

i'm hoping tomorrow will make me feel better. My bridesmaids and I have what I hope to be our last dress fitting, I should be able to take it all home after that. That'll be one big worry sorted! Then next weekend we're going to take as much as we can to my mum and dads (we're getting married near there rather than where we live) so that will make the house feel less cluttered, should make me feel more organised, and will clear space for honeymoon packing!

Not yet :-) I think I will, but i'll be nervous for him rather than for myself, if that makes sense? I think that won't be until I finish work though, a couple of days before

Me, me me ME! I'm getting fed up of making decisions and getting a bit blasé about it all now. In the beginning I was really fussy and had definite ideas as to how I wanted it all to be. Last night when I was sticking crystals on the table numbers I noticed they are a lot more slap dash than when I started.

I was also considering downloading a few templates for ispy game and candy buffet from etsy rather than spending a few hours on word drafting up my own. A couple of months ago I would never have considered it as they won't match the rest of the stationery. Some ribbon came last night for the table plan and it isn't the right silver I wanted and I just thought "meh - it'll do." I'm now splitting things into the 'this is what people will notice' and 'this is what people won't' category. Since watching four weddings more is going on the 'won't notice list' and some falling off the list altogether, I've already crossed off my list bathroom baskets for guests and flip flop baskets. Nice touch if you have time but my life is not allowing for that degree of wedding planning at the mo.

We have the menu tasting next week. I've said I will taste all the puddings and he can choose the rest. I'm all decisioned out!!

I don't feel like this......yet! Still got about a year to go though. Although I know it's normal to he's these feelings, I hope I don't! I'm loving it so far. I am not doing anytthing DIY as I did not want the stress of it just before the wedding.

I'm currently struggling to make a decision on the invitations, but they're slowly making their way to the 'it doesn't matter' list. As long as people know time, place etc it'll be fine. I can't really see what else I have to do, but I'm sure that'll come back to bite me on the bum.

If it helps - this is my todo list for the next 106 days:

finish sticking crystals on table numbers, agree menu choices, design, print and make up menus. Finish embellishing bridesmaid dresses. Agree cake and cake topper. Spray paint wooden hearts for guest book frame. Find frame for wooden hearts. Make sign for guest book, Decide on and buy groom's present. Decide on and buy bridesmaid gifts. Buy primark pyjamas and iron on transfers. Agree table plan and design and make. Buy candy for candy buffet. Attach ribbon and tags to jars. Make candy buffet sign.Buy liqueurs for liqueur favours and fill mini bottles then attach ribbon and tags. Find bridesmaid shoes. Find cans of fake snow and make up confetti cones for snow confetti. Buy dress hanger. Agree music for ceremony with harpist. Agree music for reception with wedding singer. Fill in forms for registrar. Meet wedding co-ordinator to agree order of the day and timings and all the other stuff such as menu, who is staying in what room, what canapés and reception drinks we are having, what supper menu we are having, what cocktails we are having. Meet TOG to go through photo list. Meet VOG. Order cracker place names. Two dress fittings for dress alterations.

On top of all of that as our wedding is 4 days before Xmas I have Xmas to buy and plan for as well......?

I got to the point that it was all too much but now 3 weeks later I'm just living in the land of wanting to do it all again. You will enjoy it once you get to the day and you see all your pretties come together and all your loved ones in one place.

I'm totally fed up now and want to get on with it, we have 6 months to go. We got loads of the big stuff sorted early and now have the little bits left but i've kind of got to the point where i'm not as interested anymore. I originally wanted stunning invites, now i'm not too bothered what they look like and my H2B was more interested when we were looking at them the other night than I was! I just can't wait to actually marry him, and i think i've realised now that I'm no longer getting carried away with all the silly wedding stuff and am not too bothered about the finishing bits really as long as it looks nice and everyone has a great time!

I know the feeling, I'm at the "I really dgaf and cba" stage. Seems like I'm doing it all on my own, plus trying to work two long shifts a week, look after our two children and keep on top of the housework. My Mum said she would help, she's done nothing, my CBM works opposite to me and has a young child of her own, so can't help much and my OH is working opposite to me so that we can save on childcare, when we do have a rare evening together (like last night), we were asleep by 10 because we were both so exhausted!
