Feeding the photographer

Shleby, 4 January, 2010 at 18:03 Posted on Planning 0 14

We are in the process of looking for a photographer and i was just wondering if any of you will be or did feed your photographer. We only require 1 for about 4 hours so just wondering if we should feed them or not. They will only be there from about half 3 till half 7.

xx

We will be offering ours the option of eating - we want someone from about 2 to 10 and most photographers specify if they will want refreshments etc. best is to just ask them directly - say you would be happy to provide food if this is necessayr.

Think it would be a nice gesture but as he's not going to be there all day it's not a necessity I guess x

Im only having mine leading up to the wedding breakfast- so at mine getting ready then to venue throughout ceremony and then pictures after leading to fake cutting of cake! So we will not be eating whilst photographer is around so will not be an issue for us. I know that doesnt help you at all but just wanted to share!

Ours stipulates in his contract that if he is there fore up to 4 hours we must provide refreshements and any long we must provide a meal. Always best to just as when you ask them fore a quote.

As ours is staying until the first dance he requires a hot meal. Our string quartet have also requested sandwiches and drinks.

    Hi,

we never expect to be fed when covering a wedding. I think it depends on the photographer but I don't see how people can stipulate it when you're boss at work doesn't buy your lunch for you!

Its a nice gesture when someone does it, but if its only 4 hours coverage to I'd think it pretty cheeky if they expected feeding!

Our tog doesn't stipulate that he needs fed, we are getting married at 2pm, so he will be there from around 1:15 or 1:30 to take pics of the venue and guests arriving, he is taking pics up until we go for the meal (including a fake cake cutting) which will probably be around 4pm.

We have mentioned to the venue so he can have a meal in the bar area (and we will pay in later). I know we don't need to, but he will have been running around for 3 hours solid and I think it's a nice gesture, he's bound to be hungry! Plus our guy has an hour travelling either way, so he won't have eaten since 12.

I'm a videographer and usually there for anything up to 9 hours but I don't expect to be fed ... however if your venue is remote then it is nice to be offered something to eat even if it's just sandwiches and a drink as it's not so easy to nip out for something.

I'd say I get offered a meal around 50% of the time.

From 3 to 7 it shouldn't be neccesary, as its easy for the photographer to have lunch and dinner afterwards. However its nice to be offered a drink, even if its just water.

    Hi

I don't expect to be fed at a wedding irrespective of how long I am there to photograph the wedding.

    I take a HUGE packed lunch !!

    Regards,

    Dean

I'm a videographer and generally when we're filming a wedding will usually sort ourselves out to be honest. Saying that all the weddings we did last year all the couples invited us to have some buffet food and provided us with some refreshments which is very much appreciated but we don't stipulate it. We're happy to bring our own lunch etc. On New Years Eve we started filming at 10.30am right through to gone 1.00am and the hotel provided us with a meal at no cost to the happy couple. We do most of the time work very long hours shooting and their is very little time for eating as we wouldn't want to miss out on anything so tend to wait until the wedding breakfast has started before eating. I would just ask your photographer whether he requires refreshments or not.
