Feeling a bit fluffy, indulge me, what is the cutest little romantic thing your OH does for you....

Stupidgirl45, 5 February, 2009 at 21:11 Posted on Planning 0 47

Mine is OH putting some toothpaste on my toothbrush when he brushes his teeth when I am still in bed. To me a sign of love is the little things that show you care.

The reason I love this is because I read about it in a book and thought it was so cute and told him. And then the next morning I went into the bathroom and my toothbrush was on the windowsill with toothpaste on it for me

? I know

Well I get a cup of tea every morning brought to me..... I've had flowers for the simplest of things, delivered no less. Last week I got a single red rose because he had given me his cold......

when we werent living together he sneaked into my house when I was working and filled every single cupboard and my fridge with food, with a note which read 'Dont ever tell me you have 'nothing to eat' again!! It lasted a long time!!

I love it when OH calls me saesneg (welsh for saxon). For a really bizarre reason that he doesn't know about....

I used to read a trashy book about this woman who travelled back in time to Jacobite scotland and fell in love with this foxy bloke who called her sassenach (scottish for saxon) and they fell in love etc etc

So i love it when he calls me saesneg -

Nona - that is just sooooooooooooooo romantic, you lucky woman!

I came home from work one day to find post-its in various places around the flat. He had left to go away with work for two weeks. Some were slushy, some funny and some just silly. Made me smile for the two weeks tho

My OH likes to buy me flowers, and doesn't do it for any reason but just to make me happy. It's the little things he does that get me, like when I lived away he had to get me a torch so I would be safe if there's ever a powercut etc. If we wake up in the morning, and we have a cuddle and I get out of bed to get him a cup of tea, he says "come back" in this really sad voice like he can't bear to be apart for two minutes

The most recent thing that made me go fluffy wasn't even involving me.... he must have overheard me and my best mate/CBM talking about how much she loves penguins and that was months ago, but the other day he showed be a box of matches that had penguins on them which he'd saved for her to use on her cigarettes. It may not sound much but he's normally so forgetful and I thought if he can be that thoughtful and caring about someone he knows is really important to me then I know he's a keeper...

    Aw, how lovely.

I agree, it's the small things. I love it when H2B will de-ice my car for me because I complained that my hands always got cold. He also buys me flowers for no reason at all and will do anything for me when I am poorly (which has been lots lately)

When I cant get to sleep h2b strokes my hair which makes me fall to sleep

I get a coffee every morning and sometimes he wakes me up by kissing my back.

He also makes my lunch every day, and sometimes (just sometimes) I get little love notes in there.

Mine send me flowers when i have a busy stressful week at uni. I also get the toothpaste on the toothbrush when we're together. He looks after me when i'm ill, makes me dippy eggs in bed on a saturday morning (most weeks!! Smiley laugh) Takes my car, does all the man things (petrol, air in tyres, water ect!), he never lets me take any dirty washing home with me and brings it me the next weekend all washed and ironed, he always leaves me notes when he leaves my house (all saved!), he always sends me 3 cards on every occasion (one funny, one cute and one sloppy!). Now to think of more, i've gone all fluffy now too!! He's definately a keeper! Smiley laugh Oh he also has lots of cute pet names for me too, he calls me poodle (ive got curly hair!!).. Aww i miss him, damn that snow!! x

    ?My OH Isn't that romantic.......

Every now and then he has his moments, it made me ? when he said last night "what are we doing for valentines?", my response was "we never do anything, so was thinking of continuing with that!" He looked so disappointed and said "Oh, I thought it would be different this year since its the first year we've been engaged"

Might not sound much, but coming from him and knowing what he's like, it made me all fuzzy!

Whilst I am doing this he normally washes my car. Then at night he will run me my bath with lotts of bubbles aah bless, he buys me flowers not always just sometimes for no reason. He cooks meals fairly often and also de-ices my car which is a god send. There is probelly more will remember as he does them lol

Seriously, I might also be printing out this thread to give my OH some pointers!! I think the most romantic thing he does for me these days is iron me a top for work if I get in a bit later than normal! Probably more practical than romantic methinks! ?

When we first got together he booked a surprise trip to Barcelona for my birthday, he also bought Take That tickets out of the blue for me and a friend, as I was desperate to go - massive fan and didn't get to see them the first time around - but I couldn't afford it as I was completely skint (was a student at the time!)

Think he's slacking a bit these days ? although whenever we have a bit of a fall-out he does always bring me home a bottle of my favourite Chablis which goes down well ? usually because he's in the wrong though...?

My OH makes me a cup of tea after dinner as i ALWAYS want one although he never has one himself.

If he gets to the bathroom first in the evening he'll put my toothpaste on the brush for me.

I am sooo lazy sometimes and if i'm feeling cold on the sofa and comment on it and he'll go and get a blanket!

Bless him. I love him!!! ?

I get my car de-iced too!

i know this might not seem romantic to anyone, but i think this showed me how thoughtful and selfless my h2b can be - my brother has just gone to ghana for 5 months to work with a voluntary football organisation. he's been collecting old footie shirts that he can take out for the ghanian kids. my h2b gave my brother his oldest, most favourite and much loved celtic shirt with larsson on the back. i just thought that was really thoughtful of him.

the most romantic thing my h2b has done for me is write me tons of love letters whilst we were living apart - i have 2 shoeboxes full. while he was away travelling for a summer with his mates, he filled 2 notebooks full of what he had been doing for me, so that I could 'be with him' - it was our very first summer together, and after a few months apart already, we had just fallen totally for each other, so the notebooks are full of really romantic thoughts and passages. am thinking about re-reading them to see if one could be a reading at our wedding..... (though obviously i wouldn't tell people he had written it.....)

? feel all tearful now! ?

Actually want to post again as I'm not sure I was entirely fair to my OH there! He is amazingly thoughtful when it comes to birthday and Christmas presents. He has got me some lovely things, really personal and thoughtful. For instance I am a massive literature fan and have been ever since he's known me - we met just before I started my degree in English Lit. I love Shakespeare and have been recently reading into a lot about his actual life, etc. Last Christmas H2B's present to me was a weekend in Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's birthplace and the other houses part of his heritage (it's been made into a Trust if you're not familiar.) He does a lot of personal things like this for presents which I think is quite romantic. So he is good when he puts his mind to it!

What a lovely thread, feeling all warm inside just reading it!

With my h2b it is all the little things that add up, if I am working late or on my way home down the motorway (which is pretty often) he will have dinner in the oven and look out for my car to come outside to help me with my bags. As soon as I walk in he pours my wine, rolls my cigarette and lets me rant about my day.

I get flowers when he is proud of me or something I have achieved, and flowers when I haven't done antyhing to deserve them, but the sweetest is the way he will complain if we have both been home for more than 10 minutes and haven't had a cuddle yet....? he is my angel

Sorry - I am not normally this slushy!

When we first got together my H2B used to turn up at my work with roses for me for no reson at all. He booked a surprise holiday to take us away for my birthday last year when he knew i really wanted to go away. But the thing he does that i love the most is massaging/tickling my feet every night before we go to bed :-)

    Goodness you fluffy bunch!!

Well now you've got me started!

Just this morning, Iain took the trouble to scrape the ice and snow off my car for me.

He always calls me his poppet. Or pops for short!

Even though he didn't like cats when he met me, he still buried one of them when he got run over.

    He feeds my remaining cats!

He used to drive down to Dorset to stay with his Mum and Dad every other weekend before he met me, and last time we went down, he told me that he always hoped that he'd have someone to take with him. And now he does! Me!

Oh there's loads of other things. Silly little things, which make me smile.

    We're very lucky ladies!

    Very ? post. love it.

me and h2b don't live together, although he stays over a few nights a week, but the nights he doesn't stay he always sends me a text saying goodnight and how much he loves me.

quite often i've woken up to find a love letter on the door mat that he'd obviously posted in the night.

he'll make me and our boy boiled eggs and soldiers every saturday, and then take him to the park or something so i can have some "me time"

i'll catch him just staring at me, and when i ask him why he's looking at me, he'll say "just can't believe you're mine" he says that, or a varient everytime, and it never gets old, lol

if i've had a stressful day, he'll cook diner and run me a bubble bath, and let me moan away, and he actually listens.

he took me to see jimmy carr, who i LOVE, even though he isn't a fan, and he didnt sulk when i got a hug and kiss off him after the show.

he calls me kitten, because he said that when im asleep i make little noises, like purrs and i sound like a kitten ?

if i go out, he'll record programmes he thinks i'll like, or get gets me a book he thinks i'd be interested in.

the most recent thing he has done/said is that he would like to adopt our boy. he is my son from a previous relationship, but his sperm donor is no longer around, and my boy calls him daddy. this meant so much more than anything else he could possibly say or do.

Well after 14 years romantic gestures seem to have fallen by the wayside, however he still kisses me goodbye every mornign before he goes to work.

Yesterday though he came home from work early just so he could play in the snow with the kids, he's a contractor so doesn't get paid if he doesn't work. He's an amazing father and yesterday watching him play in the snow with them just turned me to mush.
