Feeling a bit sore today (edited sp..oops)

Mitzi50, 2 December, 2009 at 11:17 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hiya, this could be a long one so im sorry!

Ive not been to chipper for a while now and the doc's have been investigating, but they dont tell me anything which is really starting to annoy me!!! I was referred to a Endocrinologist who booked me in for lots of blood tests and a couple of 24hour urine tests, then she said it would be a few weeks for the results, so have my follow up appointment on friday, and then monday I got a call saying that they need to do a 'special investigation' and I have to come into hospital for more tests before my appointment on Friday, so this morning I have been in, had a blood test in one arm, then an injection in my bum, then I had to wait 30 mins and then have another blood test in my other arm. So now both arms and bum are sore, and noone will tell me what's going on!! I think its so unfair to leave people hanging like this. All she would say is the Dc would be able to explain on Friday. ☹️

Sorry for the rant, OH is at work so cant talk to him and just feeling a bit down! No need to reply...unless your a nurse and can tell me whats going on!! lol!!

x

Poor you! That sounds really cr@p. Can't believe they won't tell you anything though, that really sucks! Have a relaxing day if you can...

Not a nurse, but have worked in the nhs, and still work in healthcare.

did the nurse not even say what elements in your hormones or blood the injections would be looking at, or how this would help your Dr form a diagnosis?

if i were you, i'd be kicking up more of a stink, asking (at the least) what they were looking for/at, as this will be on the form that the Dr completed when he asked for the test to be taken.

it is then best, tbh, to wait for your appointment on friday, as the Dr will then be able to use all the results from your tests and be able to form some kind of diagnosis. if they can't, and they say you need further tests, ask what they will be and what they will be looking at.

and if the results aren't available, kick up another big stink.

Thanks ladies, I dont know why I wrote no need to reply as your replies make me feel better! Espically the thought of a bubble bath and kisses from OH!! ...will remember that bit!!

Claire - Thats so rubbish!!! And waiting around for them to get into gear is the worst isnt it!! I hope your doc's have been extremely apologetic!

Bluewater - All the nurse would tell me was what she was injecting in was an accecelerant (sp) and thats all she knew as she didnt have my notes and she couldnt tell me why or what for. Its just so frustrating, my mind has been running wild since I got the message saying 'special investigation' and now its going to keep going until friday!

Moya do you know - I thought you meant to say "saw" and it stood for something that I didn't know. What I came up with is "sore and [something]" was trying to work out the "w" lol

Nope, no code there, just me being very dim before lunch, came back from lunch, looked at the title of my post and thought, im not saw, im sore!!! Although, i like your code idea rather than me being dim! ...how about SAW - Sore and Worried! That works! lol!

Dont be afraid to complain (this goes for you too Claire) I recieved some awful treatment on a hospital visit, which has kind of left me emotionally scarred and I wrote a complaint letter. On my follow up visit I got the top doctor and a written apology from the 1st doctor.........

dont let them get away with anything! My father inlaw is in hospital due to the incompetance of some doctors and will now have to have kidney dyalisis for the rest of his days...

hope your arms n bum get better and hope you do overall Smiley smile xx

Much sympathy! There's no excuse for poor communication.

After so much general fobbing off with the NHS, I now never leave until I'm satisfied with the outcome and that everything's been explained properly. It's the least you deserve.

Hope things sort out quickly, not knowing is the worst.
