Feeling annoyed !!

excitedbridetobe2015, 4 February, 2014 at 19:16 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

So I have a friend who I sponsored to shave her hair off for charity. She has been making comments for the past month about being bald etc. Anyway, the day came and it turns out she has just cut it short and not shaved at all. Feel really annoyed that she has scammed everyone.

I'd ask for my money back tbh, or take a pair of clippers to her noggin!

Was her hair very long? A v short cut can be quite drastic for some! Don't let it annoy you, she is still raising money for charity ?

I can see why you're annoyed, she's not done what she said she would and a short hair cut is a far cry from a head shaving, but as long as it's a worthy charity I'd try not to be too pissy.

It was long, I just wish she had said "sponsor me for a hair cut" instead of lying about shaving it off, I would have still sponsored her! I couldn't do it so admire her for even cutting it short. I just don't think its right to say you will do something for charity and not follow through with it. It would be like me raising money by running a marathon then deciding I couldn't be bothered to run that far once everyone had sponsored me and doing 10 miles instead.

I know its for charity but it's just typical of this girl. She hasn't even posted pictures herself, she was tagged, in fact haven't heard a peep from her since she did it a few days ago.

Completely understand your anger...i'd rather give money to charity of my own doing for the sake of it than sponsor someone who doesn't do as they say.

EXACTLY !!!! Wouldn't like to be her right now. She has about 50 people asking her on FB why she isn't bald lol I'm not the only one who is pi**ed.

It's a shame though because if she had only been honest from the start and said a 'short hair cut' people would be praising her right now instead of feeling scammed by her lies, she's let herself down really.

Perhaps she fully intended too but at the last minute bottled it? The charity is still getting the money at the end of the day- me feeling annoyed that I've lost a fiver or whatever compared to a cancer charity getting some money that could really help them.

Perhaps a step back and some perspective is in order.

I know yeah, but I guess honesty means a lot to me Smiley smile If you bottle it, just say it, that's fine! I would have!! lol But don't pretend (which she did for days having her family make comments like she had done it, people were still donating, still are now infact) and then get caught out by someone else tagging you on FB. Its not the money x

Ah ok, well pretending you have done is poor form, I diddnt realise that from your post.

though again- she's made herself look a wally and the charity gets it's money still.

With Just giving pages etc now the money is taken straight away. So loads ofpeople collect money for marathons and then drop out half way through the race. May be we should go back to good old sponsor forms! I remember always having to collect money for school things (sponsored skipping challenge or whatever) and I only ever used to ask my mum and my nan as my only other friends would also be collecting - do they still do that sort of thing in primary school?

But yeah - what everyone else has said about the charity still getting the money being the important thing.

I should have raised money for charity when I had my hair chopped ?

It's pretty bad form to say you're doing something for charity, and then not doing it. It would be like me doing a sponsored silence and then talking the whole day.

Maybe you should suggest she coughs up an extra £10 for every inch of hair she DIDN'T have chopped off.

^^^^this!!! It would cover her being too scared to go the whole hog and make up for it to those of you who she's pi**ed off, and make the charity more money - bonus!!
