Feeling Autumnal

WelshTotty, 20 August, 2009 at 12:37 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Hmmm... went for a quick walk into town to get lunch earlier and its quite blustery out there, some trees are loosing leaves already, the light seems somehow different and theres an autumnal smell in the air. Autumn is on its way in already, and for another year I feel cheated of a half decent summer (I admit this summer has been a hell of a lot better than the previous 2 washouts)

I quite like Autumn, but always at the back of my mind it tells me its only too soon til Winter arrives and the nights draw in. My favourite season is Spring, its green and lovely and gives me hope for longer warmer lighter days.

Ho hum.

It's not here. We are in the middle of a heat-wave with "enahanced danger" warnings.

We've left our greenhouse (well, some shelves with a rain-coat on) open for the last few weeks, and it still got to 48C! current temp on balcony is 37C, and it's been like this all week. Apparently we are due huge storms tonight.

I was saying this to OH a couple of days ago when it was dark at about 8.30. it has smelt autumnal for a few days here (lancs) and very windy its just odd as its been warm as well.

i love winter when its cold not raining, autumn with the crunchy leaves, spring with all the new growth summer i can take or leave as i dont like to be to hot but i do like beeing able to have alll the doors and windows open ond for the kids to be in the garden playing.

The end of autumn heading into winter is my favourite time. I'm really looking forward to it,

It still feels summery to me.

H and I went for a walk on Hampstead Heath this morning and then had breakfast at Kenwood House and walked down to the lake. It was lovely and warm and we saw ducklings and everything ?

I hate autumn - it reminds me that winter with it's cold days and dark nights is round the corner.

Ah, lovely, rainy Autumn when it's cooler for working and the clothes improve. Can't wait!

I have that autumnal feeling too, although I haven't had much of a summery one yet! My dh gets up just before 5am as he's working in London (we're in Hampshire), and the last few mornings it's still been dark which has been a very strange feeling.

It was lovely here yesterday and I spent my day off sat in the garden with my 3yr old dd. It was lovely but had a very definite late summer feel to it.

Still hoping for an Indian summer!
