Feeling Let Down and Disappointed....

Tilly Floss, 13 May, 2008 at 14:45 Posted on Feedback to Hitched 0 7

I'm getting used to the new format, though I still prefer the old one by a long way.

I am feeling let down and disappointed by the lack of response from "the powers that be" to comments, glitches and problems posted here, on this part of the board, supposedly set up so that we can be sure you are aware of them.

I know you had a busy weekend, I know this is only a small part of the business, and I'm sure you're hoping we'll find we don't hate it so much over time. However having asked us to talk to you about it, you could perhaps respond.

I think only the "breast" issue has had a response to date....

I'm going to stand up for Dean, Darren et al. Tilly - you're being totally unreasonable. To introduce a new forum at the drop of a hat is a massive undertaking and frankly, I'm amazed that it works so coherently after such a short run in period. Of course there are glitches but Hitched is a business and you may have noticed that there are currently no ads on the forums hence this isn't an income generator for them. Give the guys a break, let them get on with it and be grateful that you've got anything when they could have just as easily left the forums off for a week whilst they took their time. I know you BTers are a bit obsessive about the forum but honestly, you really need to realise what a good deal you've got here.

No Baron, I understand what you're saying and I had noticed the lack of advertising/ revenue stream while it's being sorted.

I do understand what a good deal we all have here, I am very grateful for the service provided as I have said on numerous occasions (though probably not as many as it warrants).

I'm not expecting individual responses, but a daily update, or "We've read that and will think about it" would be a good thing.

I don't expect them either to say "Yes" to everyone's requests (or even just mine) I'm perfectly willing to hear "No, we can't/ won't do that".

I'm also offended by the above comment

" I know you BTers are a bit obsessive about the forum but honestly, you really need to realise what a good deal you've got here."

I wrote on my behalf, not that of BT in general, so if you're calling me obsessive, fair enough, we'll agree to disagree. If you are labelling others because of what I wrote then I think that is unacceptable.

Tilly... The Hitched team have been up to their nuts in it since Friday night when the site was hacked again. They're managed not only to sort out the majority of the damage to the databases but also get a new forum up and running to try and stop some of the problems they were facing.

I think the part of your post that I found unreasonable is the title and would tentitively suggest that you get a wee bit of perspective on this matter.

Some people are having problems with the login and other people have made some very good suggestions but as with all developments, particularly those that have to be deployed several months ahead of the provisional 'go-live' date there's bound to be a few glitches. I suspect had your post been made sometime in the next couple of weeks I could have understood however just over a day in seems somewhat churlish.

I speak here not as a 'mod' but as a fellow member and feel faintly embarrassed that your comments will be seen as unwarranted critisism by the Hitched team and ask for a wee bit of patience over the next few days.?

Again, fair enough, actually I had wondered about editing the title when I read Baron's response, but to me it always feels like trying to re write history and pretend you said something different to what you actually did.

So instead I will add the following, I hope that's ok, I mean every word:

    Dear Hitched Team,

I'm sorry about my original post on this thread. The title in particular is an overreaction and going back to re-read it I am surprised at myself for not seeing that sooner.?

I do think you guys do a fantastic job here and give us a fab service which I and many others appreciate greatly.

I'm sorry I was hasty, patience is not my strong point and I must try harder.

    Heartfelt apologies

Fair enough Tilly. The comment about BTers really relates to the fact that they're the first to decamp to a temporary forum when the site goes down. I understand the lack of a support network can be distressing but to have the forums running after the weekend was a phenomenal effort. I appreciate though I was generalising so apologies to other BTers who may have been offended by that comment.

    Tilly,

Dont worry we've got thick skin and love the fact that people are so passionate about hitched.

Its been a bit manic over the last 2 or 3 weekends and we're all trying to catch up a bit (and on sleep). We've got another server coming online this week that will share to load of the website and 2 new firewalls. These all need configuring before they go live and then set up for backups etc.

Therefore I expect it will be the end of next week before we can make a start on further enhancements to forum.

Once we are ready to start I'll scan all the posts and post a summary list of what we are going to work on (and not)

Bear with us, I'm sure you are all going to see a lot of benefits of this new forum over the coming months.

    Dean
