Feeling unhappy- best friend is a hen-night-zilla !

Selenalee69, 19 February, 2013 at 17:01 Posted on Planning 0 4

Sorry, peeps I just wanted a self-indulgent whinge. Ever since I asked my best friend if she would like to organise my hen night, she has turned into some sort of Dictator ! I ended up so stressed and unhappy on sunday afternoon,I was in tears. I thought I was the one who was supposed to be a bridezilla?? Now I just feel like saying cancel the whole thing,I can't understand her attitude. She basically lost her temper and had a go at me because I asked her to try and cut costs on the amount she wanted to spend on balloons, she went on this whole rant about " I need to organise this my way and in my timescale and I'm not skimping on decorations to organise a s**t arsed party with S**t decorations and horsemeat sausages !" etc etc - I know, it sounds funny now . I was just saying that if we could save a little money on the decs, there would be more to spend on food/drink. We're having a Hollywood themed party in our local-at the MOST we'll have 30 hens there...the initial list she made was £200 just for decorations-not including buffet supplies or food. Everyone's putting £10 in a whip so they will expect to get fed and watered, but if too much is spent on balloons (why do we need 40?) ,then there is less for the other bits. She's acting like I'm interfering and being a nuisance, but at the end of the day,I'm the one paying for it. It's just taken the edge off it all for me now, and I was so excited about it ,now I just feel thoroughly fed up .

    (30 hens (if max attended ) x £10 pp) - £200 on decs = 100 / 30 = £3.33 a head for food & drink !! ? not great is it.

Tell her people want fed and watered for their money , work out how much per head is needed for food etc and tell her she'll just need to work with whatever is left for decs etc... if she doesn't like it tell her she is welcome to contribute more out of her own pocket if she feels so strongly about it.

Lol, that's what I'll do- I'll allow only 1 balloon !I have said that I'll give her £100 to go to the wholesalers with to get decs & serviettes etc- the £200 was for full priced stuff on Ebay and Amazon, and the other two of us said that's too much,we'd have to find a cheaper source so a friend is taking her to the wholesaler where it should be about half the price. We wanted to do a special cocktail list for the night,so were going to get some juices/syrups etc,at this rate, everyone will be buying their own drinks ! Oh anyway, thanks peeps, I just wanted to vent.
