Festive coffee??

*Funky*, 8 November, 2012 at 19:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

Sitting in Starbucks right now waiting for my next appointment (drinking hot chocolate) while staring at the new festive coffee menu thinking they look and sound quite nice.

however I hate coffee even the smell makes me wanna vom (I'm sitting by the door which is open= no smell)

so this may be a silly question but do these festive coffees actually taste like coffee (I can't imagine coffee and eggnog, gingerbread etc working together) or is it just hot milk and festive flavouring??? I would just go and ask but it does sound a bit silly. But at the same time don't want to be missing out on some non coffee wonderfulness!

I love the egg nog latte. It tastes like egg nog, tiny bit like coffee, but it's AMAZING!!!!!

They did a dark cherry mocha a few years ago, that was heavenly. Festive coffees do taste like coffee but it's more like a background flavour if that makes sense. The only coffee I can drink is nescafe instant with lots of milk and sugar or "buggered about" coffees as my dad calls them so I'm probably not the best one to give advice.

I used to drink starbucks before I liked coffee!

I now prefer Cafe Nero or the independant places.

I'm currently sipping on an Amaretto Latte from Neros. Its far too sweet but I dont care. AND I got an Amaretti biscuit with it! #winning

I have a good few a week once the festive coffees come out! We only have a Costa where I live, so I've been living off salted caramel lattes and black forest/honeycomb hot chocolate this week. Just about to pop up and get a creme brulee latte!

I now want an egg nog latte.

Don't rate the creme brulee one from Costa. Might try some other flavours though, as we only have a Costa here, have to travel for my beloved Starbucks.

Don't know if they still do this, but you used to be able to buy the gingerbread syrup from Starbucks. You could make the weakest possible coffee for yourself and whack in loads of the syrup to get the flavour without the coffee taste!

ETA or put the syrup into hot chocolate!

OK - I am now drinking my creme brulee latte. I believe Costa puts two shots in a medium size, but personally it doesn't taste coffee-y (coffee-ish?!) to me, but I do drink my coffee black.

If I were a coffee virgin, maybe I'd ask for a large latte, but with only one shot of coffee, plus the flavourings.

Funky - are you a hot chocolate fan? Perhaps try a mocha?

This is my mornings set for the next few months (I got a few bottles).

It's actually quite nice just in hot milk (instead of cocoa) if you don't like coffee. It's really sweet, though, and I need the bitterness of the coffee to offset it.

ETA: a chai latte is delicious with one less shot of chai, and a shot of gingerbread added in its place!!

I'm so glad there are other Coffee haters. If me and my friends go for "coffee" i'm always made to feel like a small child for ordering a hot chocolate!! ?

However I did try a gingerbread latte a few years back and really liked it. If i'm feeling a bit daring around the festive period i'll sacrifice my usual chocolaty experience for one. I'd give it a go funky!

I took the plunge today people... OH had a caramel latte and I tried some (although OH said it was the worst latte he had ever had so probably not the best one to try) but I actually really liked it!!! eeek is this going to be a slippery slope into the world of coffee?
